First everyone comes up and gets their ashes. Then the same people come up again and receive Communion. During the imposition of ashes, we sing Allegri's "Misere Mei."

We have a choral service his evening. I love the early morning service. I love being the first person at the church in the morning.

Are you Catholic, Episcopalian, Orthodox, something else? I am Episcopalian and am heading out the door for a 6 pm service.

God bless you all.

And I'm often a communion server (Lutheran). I like feeling that I've contributed to making the service special. Was not able to make Ash Wed. service this year due to my mom being in the hospital.

Who would wish me a happy Ash Wednesday and a happy Good Friday each year, and I would wish him a happy Yom Kippur and a happy Tisha B'Av. It was a private joke between the two of us.
