The big latke with the crispy brown edges all the way around but so tender in the middle.
Pass the apple sauce.

I love brisket on Hannukka, but if there are latkes, I just want to eat those.

was from daughter's friend's grandma and is SUPER! OMG!

Gotta crisp up later days latkes more; was too impatient and hungry, with these. Glad I remembered the apple sauce when @ grocery last week.

My Jewish family member makes it with ketchup and onion soup, etc.
It is so good.

You cannot be too impatient with latkes and eat the first batch.
The next batches are the best. I am used to seeing a huge plate of them.

I only eat one out of the first batch. The later ones are so crisp and good.
If there is gravy from the brisket I refuse to pour it over the latke like others sometimes do.

It ruins the crispy texture and flavor. Sometimes I dip it quickly in the gravy.
But I like them with just applesauce.

I am going to a brisket and latkes dinner on Saturday, I can't wait!
Then for dessert there will be cheesecake, carrot raison bundt cake, cookies and chocolate mousse.

and of course you're right, about home- made latkes! These are not such, as I'm 'home alone,' I now use frozen from TJ.

What do I know, I didn't have a Jewish bubbie.

Frozen from TJ?
How are they?

I am afraid to suggest it. I think certain family members will report me to the rabbi.

of course don't compare very favorably with home-made, especially my cousins (sad he's gone) or mine which are/were pretty good, but took SOOOOO long!!!

Yes they take a bit of time to do at home, but are so worth it.
We usually only have them twice a year.

They look yummy.

I bought Golden's frozen latkes for tonight.
They're in the oven at the moment.
Will make some from scratch this weekend.
