There are 37 Jewish members of the 117th Congress, which was sworn in last week amid the trauma of an insurrection spurred by President Donald Trump.
Of the 37, there are 10 in the Senate and 27 in the House of Representatives 25 Democrats and two Republicans. All 10 Jewish senators caucus with the Democrats. (Overall, there are 435 members of the House and 100 members of the Senate.)
With Democrats taking both Senate seats in last weeks election in Georgia, Democrats will have 50 seats, and when Kamala Harris is sworn in as the tie-breaking vice-president on Jan. 20, they will control the Senate. That will make Charles Schumer of New York the first Jewish majority leader in the Senate, and the most senior Jewish American official in history.

This is a positive story and situation. However, I have seen across the internet, even among a few Jewish sites, comments about "overrepresentation" of Jews. This is BULLSHIT! It is, frankly, IMO, just another way to denigrate the accomplishments of the Jewish people. Yes, population wise there are more Jews in the halls of Congress than in the US as a whole, however, Jews are still a minority population. The whining or "noting" of the overrepresentation is not something justifiable. It is shit like that that leads to "Jews are too powerful" and "Jews control Congress", so this needs to fucking STOP! Were it not for a Jewish senator being elected, the democrats would not have control of Congress and the leader of the Senate would still be "The Turtle". So people need to stop with the "quota" bullshit; they need to stop with denigrating the accomplishments of Jews; and they need to stop pretending the Jews are not a "real" minority (and yes, I am including Jews who think this way)! The fact that a mere 7% of Congress is Jewish is a "problem" because Jews are only 2.2% the US population, is absurd, offensive, and frankly, anti-Semitic!

We have a disproportionally high number of Jewish members of the Senate.
I get more excited when someone awesome like Warnock is sworn in.
I love Senator Ossoff and I believe he will be AMAZING. He's just not a sign of diversity in the Senate.
