A prayer for Memorial day and maybe any day
O God, may those who have died in military service to the nation find rest in you, may your judgement of them be tempered by your mercy, may your love for them heal them of all hurts.
May your loving kindness be poured out upon those they left behind. On this day of remembrance family and loved ones are reliving the pain and suffering of the day they received the news. Give them peace and hope.
Finally dear God of love, heal the hearts and minds who were comrades in arms. Many are suffering injury of body and mind. Some feel guilty for surviving when their friends died at their side. While they are not deceased a part of them has died. Fill them with hope, faith and love.
