A main source of aesthetic attractiveness is symmetry: a symmetric face and a symmetric body-shape. Asymmetric features are unattractive (because they imply disability and bad genes).

1. Alcohol-consumption decreases our ability to recognize such symmetric and asymmetric features. Both genders are affected equally.
2. Drunk female participants erred on the side of symmetry more often

-> Conclusions:
If you're drunk, you have a harder time telling attractive and unattractive people apart.
If you're a drunk girl, you have a slight tendency to regard unattractive people as attractive.

3. I know that alcohol increases testosterone in women, I wonder if that also plays a role

SCIENTISTS have discovered why a Cinzano and lemonade may make women more open to offers of a sexual nature. Relatively small amounts of alcohol can cause a temporary surge of the male sex hormone testosterone in women, boosting their libido.

Alcohol is a testosterone stimulant and the affect it has on women is based upon the fact that testosterone is not the dominant hormone in the female make-up, therefore they are usually unable to control the affect of testosterone as men do on a daily, even hourly, basis. Dealing with the bravado that testosterone produces is not a common experience to a woman and therefore they rarely know how to cope with it. This explains why they are more prone to carrying out acts that are normally not in their nature when drinking.
