Ice Moon, Ghost Moon

Great post in Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy blog. The pic below is a shot through the rings of Saturn; its' from the Cassini orbiter of course. The bright moon in the foreground is Enceladus, bright because it's covered with ice. The ghostly orb in the background is Titan, dark because its thick atmosphere absorbs most of the sunlight hitting it.



Phil's closing comments:

… and there you go. I drilled down a bit into the picture’s science anyway. I guess I had to. It’s in my nature; when it comes to science, I’m reflective too.
