most of the time since there would be a tremendous lag between asking advice and then getting it.

Unless explorers resign themselves to a one way trip, we are nowhere near figuring out how to travel to our nearest neighbor. We;ll have to invent things like Star Trek gravity plating and probably a lot of other things that would help us duplicate the environment we evolved in.

Until then, we're much better off sending probes and having them return samples to us here.
