Lost tomb of the last Incan emperor or City of the Giants?

A mystery that has intrigued archaeologists and historians for centuries may be on the cusp of being solved thanks to the discovery of a ruin deep in the Amazonian jungle.
The site, discovered by a multinational team of explorers, could be the tomb of Atahualpa, the last emperor of the Incas, who was executed by the Spanish after their conquest of South America.
If they are right it could join the ranks of the great archaelogical discoveries, such as the tomb of Tutankhamun in Egypt, the Terracotta Army in China and the Rosetta Stone.

The structure, 260ft tall by 260ft wide and comprised of hundreds of two-tonne stones, is high up in the Andes in the Llanganates National Park in Ecuador, 20 miles from the town of Banos de Agua Santa, but an eight hours trek through treacherous swamps and mountainous jungle. Already, 30 artefacts have been found at the site.

Lost City of the Giants

A couple of months ago we reported on an incredible discovery deep in the jungles of Ecuador – the remains of a massive 260 foot tall by 260 foot wide structure, made up of hundreds of two-tonne blocks, which author and researcher Bruce Fenton called ‘the Lost City of Giants’, so named for the large giant-sized tools that were found in the vicinity, as well as the local legends that speak of a race of giant humans who once inhabited the region.
The vast structure is a wall, sloping at a 60 degree angle, with a flat area at the top where many artefacts have been found. "It looks like a paved wall, an ancient street or plaza with a 60 degrees angle, perhaps the roof of a larger structure. Many of the stones were perfectly aligned, have sharp edges and seemed to have been sculpted by human hands,” said Mr Duverneuil, who undertook an expedition to the site in April and May.
Now the intrepid explorers who stumbled across the amazing structure have cautiously begun to reveal more details of their finding, including the discovery of a number of large stones with circular holes cut right through the middle, which provide further evidence with which to refute claims that the large pyramid-like structure could simply be a natural formation. And it appears that the finding may be bigger than they first imagined – the discovery could solve many of South America’s mysteries and lead to one of the world’s most sought-after treasures.
Some of the multinational team of researchers believe the structure could be the mausoleum of Atahualpa, the last Incan emperor who was captured by the Spanish, and who is said to have been buried with a great hoard of gold, which had been amassed by his followers to pay (unsuccessfully) for his release. The search for the tomb and the riches has been one of the world's greatest historical treasure hunts, inspiring many expeditions, but none successful so far.

could actually have been located in a pyramid in Ecuador's part of the Amazon jungle?

So amazing.

It makes sense they would want his remains to be as far away in their range of possibilities, from the scum which viciously stole their homeland as possible.

Over 8 hours struggling from the nearest town, through mountainous jungle surrounded by Africanized bees would be no small matter.

There is so much to learn from amazing discovery.

Hope they find a quicker, more streamlined way of getting in there safely, to deliver people and their tools.

So glad you provided these links, Ichingcarpenter. It is wonderful thinking answers might be coming from this which will extend the awareness we so badly need about what the heck has happened.

A recently discovered megalithic site lay deep in the jungles of Ecuador. Original reports1 made extraordinary claims of a lost city of giants found in Llanganates National Park. I can’t fault them for the exuberantly, breathless reporting surrounding this 80 meter pyramid. There are plenty of stories about how giants once ruled the region. According to Don Cieza de Leon.

“These giants from the sea were so great in stature that from the knee down, they were as tall as a tall man. It was amazing to see how their hair hung from their great heads to their shoulders. Yet were they beardless. They ate more than fifty ordinary men. Their eyes were bigs as plates. Their arms and legs were proportionately huge.”

Doubling down on the weird, scattered around the site are oddly shaped stones dubbed ‘hammers’. Men of this stature could easily wield these alleged tools. Physical evidence of their existence remains sketchy. In 1560 C.E. a tomb containing gigantic human bones was uncovered near Cuzco. More recently, bones of men standing more than two and a half meters were found in Manta, Peru. Where are they? Lost in the Smithsonian along with other evidence of precolumbian titans2?
