it basically said "while expected, many scientists expressed mild disappointment that the data did not challenge their theories, which would have opened up new questions or mysteries"

I'm like, yeah, that's the opposite of religion, right there.

And I thought back to all those discussions about how religion and science are not in conflict at all and can work together. They are fundamentally opposed to one another as you said, and religious thinking retards progress in all areas.

The question of the existence of god(s) is irrelevant as if they do exist they have no effect on the universe we inhabit. Sparky, the Divine Irrelevance, doesn't even rate "face on toast" status.

Or perhaps as in Phillip Pullman's Golden Compass, god is a gibbering husk, toted around by ineffective angels, a remnant of a bygone era.

...Jesus had to be born of a virgin. He couldn't just show up one day and say, "Here I am."

They’re all great, but I really love the one of the woman running away from the religious zealot.

Here are a few from my own collection:

That's brilliant! I wish I lived somewhere where I could see stuff like that posted on poles.

Made me think of this opening to an episode of Six Feet Under:

Brilliant!

I think I'll send it to my fundy sis-in-law, who just this morning emailed me some Holy Babble babble.

That is so funny!
