Atheists & Agnostics

holy hell do people get up in arms here.
Apparently, it's not such a big deal and atheists should just let it go.
And that giant cross was feeding starving children or something.
And atheists are just so smug and now even more smug with the victory.

I thought about why is has become more vocal, and although there are a lot of reasons that I can come up with, I gave him this:
As the religious right has become louder and more pushy, atheists are getting more worried. It is like a child on a swing. When the swing only moves a little one way, it also moves a little the opposite way. As the speed increases, the swing moves further in one direction, and automatically will move further the other direction as well. When religion pushes too far, the push in the other direction increases as well. It has to, or we are lost.

As soon as the fig-leaf excuse about "Korean War memorial" came up, it was great to see actual residents of the area knock it down.
They ain't kidding about the ingrained anti-Semitism in Southern California, either. Up here in Los Angeles, we had a bunch of guys who basically invented the movie industry. Guys with funny names like Goldwyn and Mayer. When they wanted to play golf, they eventually had to build their own country club. They weren't allowed on any of the existing golf courses.
