The ability to claim that no matter what the head of one's own belief system does or says they are not a bigot (cause the head of ONE'S OWN RELIGION is nothing but win and ponies) and anyone who calls them out on their actual words or actions is the real bigot.
IE the "my religion is rubber and yours is glue" defense.

(18,312 posts)I bought a waffle maker at a community garage sale many years ago. The waffle maker was older than I was. It was harvest gold, and made awesome waffles. It got hot as shit and had no safety mechanism to prevent one from burning the shit out of themselves. Eventually the handle fell off and we had to get a new one. The new one sucks. It's white. I liked the harvest gold one, with the etching of wheat and corn on the lid. The new one just does't have any panache and I didn't realize it was Belgian waffle maker when I got it and I think Belgain waffles are just too thick. I like the thinner "non belgian" waffles, personally.

(9,288 posts)I can only imagine how great those waffles would have been. I personally love all types of waffles. Especially with fresh fruit on them like strawberries and bananas.

(5,351 posts)You aBelgianists are all the same. What's that? Of course I call out Belgianists and aBelgianists on their bigotry even though I can't point you to a single post where I've called Belgianists on their nonsense. Never mind that you can't find any posts where I've done that, either--they're out there! You'll just have to trust me that I've never waffled on that.

(9,288 posts)One in which it was said that anyone who calls out a certain leader of a certain sect of the worlds most popular religion for homophobic remarks he made....are the real bigots.
You know, the whole you are a bigot for not accepting my bigotry argument.
That and I thought we needed a new poll on breakfast foods.

(600 posts)Alcohol or Pancakes so I guess I have to go with French Toast, or as I like to call it, Atheist Toast.

(13,485 posts)Scotch and waffles is the missing category which would be the correct answer to your premise. Yes, I believe in scotch and waffles.
LostOne4Ever
(9,288 posts)I didn't even think of that combination!

(49,533 posts)Scotch (GOOD Scotch) should never be drunk with any food. You don't want to mess with those beautiful, wonderful flavors and aromas.

(49,533 posts)In the last month, he has significantly moderated his position to say that children must be raised with a father and a mother.
See? Totally not a bigot anymore.
Now for fun, let's go start a thread in GD saying that we think children should have a father and a mother, and see how quickly we get banned from DU.
But popey isn't a bigot, nope, not at all. In fact, the true bigots are the ones who call him a bigot because they are uh... well... THEY JUST ARE SO SHUT UP!

(17,505 posts)Actually.... that aint too bad....
....for a guy who dropped out of the real world for the celibate/ don't mix the genders/ let's apply theology to everything world of Medieval costumes and ancient daily ritual.
We should all listen to such types! They KNOW!

(49,533 posts)They've very smart, very crafty, very corrupt old men.
They know very well what's wrong with the church, and why people are leaving it. They also know very well that their own rigid dogma forbids them from actually making real changes to address the problems. (That those changes would loosen their grip on power doesn't help things either.)
So they opted for the only alternative available: a slick PR campaign kicked off by a new pope. The uninformed and naively optimistic behaved JUST LIKE THE RCC HIERARCHY KNEW THEY WOULD. Lapped it the fuck up.
All you have to do is look at the incredible contortions people are doing in the Religion group to excuse the pope from the label they would HAPPILY slap on anyone who had said even 10% of what he has about same-sex marriage and adoption.
It is disgusting and repulsive but at least it's confirmed that I must be doing something right to be hated so much by the people defending that bigot.

(654 posts)Without the assistance of the demon drink one can't begin to fathom the logic in the post referenced here. I read that stuff and thought I had slipped through to some twilight zone alternate universe where "Idiocracy" was a documentary....
