I'll place this here for future use. It was needed today in the Other group, for the usual, nonsensical reasons.
That thread was well recieved, highly rec'ed, and noticeable absent were the usual suspects.

When I spot them, I go out of my way to offend them.

(49,533 posts)Nobody has the right to not be offended. That right doesn't exist in any declaration I have ever read.
If you are offended it is your problem, and frankly lots of things offend lots of people.
I can walk into a bookshop and point out a number of books that I find very unattractive in what they say. But it doesn't occur to me to burn the bookshop down. If you don't like a book, read another book. If you start reading a book and you decide you don't like it, nobody is telling you to finish it.
To read a 600-page novel and then say that it has deeply offended you: well, you have done a lot of work to be offended.

(49,533 posts)That must be one of the individuals cbayer was speaking about yesterday when she said:
"The problem here is between a group of hostile and aggressive individuals who identify themselves as atheists but are something quite distinct from that. They relentlessly attack both believers and non-believers."
That particular individual has routinely attacked non-believers (as evidenced in that post) as well as believers with quotes like: "Only the most simple minded take any of the stories (of the bible) literally."
Nasty and toxic.

(17,505 posts)..... while trying (once again) to be oh so clever and playing the "get in the last word" game made a joke at my expense implying the my clientele were afraid I'd grope them if I took an inseam measurement. When I pointed out that he just called me a lecherous faggot.... but I wasn't gonna report it because no one really cares what he says or thinks.... he then threatened me, ordering me to reword my post.
Yes folks, MY POST, where I called him on his homophobia, was alerted on and hidden! No, not the post that suggested I grope people I made clothes for, but the post where I called him a homophobe.
I wonder.... was he more upset about the homophobe accusation (that he clearly demonstrated) or was he more upset at the notion no one cares what he thinks or says? Hmmmmmm......
Eh.... who cares? This is just a message board. (I hope none of my clients read his post tho'. You know how rumors can get) And we ALL know the double standard we must put up with whenever credulous religious folks are involved.

My advice is to simply not engage him. Ever. YMMV.

(5,668 posts)at me thinking the jury system is overused. bonk. sorry I can't stop laughing. So here we are talking about free speech and well somehow that comment was hidden. Well 2 cops are now injured over a shooting I'm not laughing about that. So now I can't comment in that threat. Since when has DU become so sensitive they make Sony look good. So if someone was offended by me stating I've gotten 2 hidden comments in a week and I've been on 3-4 jury's in a week oops. sure on Huffpo you kinda get slammed if you offend someone but since they handed that over to facebook. no problems anymore. on DU .... North Korea has people running scared. So yes on a 3-4 ruling against a post that simply said there's been too many jury alerts of late. That gets hidden in the middle of a discussion about free speech. Sorry some people here are very weird. I must be if I'm posting in this group.. Vent the laughter then I'm off.. this is childsplay. Don't really have time treating the jury system as a joke.
