So, you all know those ludicrous Chick Tracts, right?
The badly-drawn hysterical "Save yourself and go to heaven with Jesus!" comics produced by this guy:
![]() Fundies love to slip them into people's bags, into post boxes, bus seats, library books, Halloween gift bags etc. Very popular over at loony bins like Rapture Ready. Anyhoo, one of my fave Chick Tracts is the infamous: ![]() in which a group of naive college kids are led away from Jebus by the evil Dungeons and Dragons ![]() You can read this tract here: http://www.chick.com/m/reading/tracts/readtract.asp?stk=0046 and some dissections of other tracts here: http://enterthejabberwock.com/category/dissections/jack-chick/ Believe me, some of these make you want to have your brain washed when you've read them. Bigotry, anti-gay, anti-women, anti-Catholic, anti-Jewish, anti-Arab anti-everybody right-wing nasty paranoid bullshit. But, of course, God Loves You! (it's Tough Love, but there you go). Well, Zombie Orpheus Entertainment is making a movie based on my fave Dark Dungeons. Freindly Atheist describes it as: "it wasn’t a Christian movie, per se. It was more like the movie atheists would make if they wanted to turn Chick’s work into a really shitty Christian movie." It's more fun if you've read the original tract but, here's part 1: #t=246

2. Giving this a rec
because Chick Tracts are almost as funny as Dr. Bronner's labels.
I knew it was only a matter of time before he hit the big time in Follywood, that center for right wing religoloony filmmaking. |

4. I actually used to love these when I was a kid
I had a friend who's sister was much older than us. She was married by the time we were 6. She married a fundie who worked for Lance Crackers. He and she would always give us peanut butter or cheese crackers and Chick comics. I thought they were horror comics, lol.

5. Ha! He wrote the script for the "God's Not Dead" movie.
Because I grew up in the South, I used to see Jack Prick tracts all the time. I most often remember seeing them wet and stained on the floors of public restrooms, where they would stick to your feet. Symbolism that works so well for those things, on so many levels...
I'm pretty sure that shit-awful movie "God's Not Dead" was based on the Jack Chick tract "Big Daddy." It has all the same elements - bombastic atheist professor shown up by Xian student, etc. etc. Here it is in all its glory: http://www.chick.com/m/reading/tracts/readtract.asp?stk=0055 |

6. Edmond McMillan used him for inspiration in his game
The Binding of Isaac, which is a phenomenal game that is getting a remake fro. The rushed flash jobber he did in the first place. He recommends ignoring the text and looking at the art because some of it is creative, like his depiction of god as a faceless being with light from behind.

7. Wow...
...never knew these existed.
I guess it is due to my sheltered Northern upbringing. Parody is the proper response...thank you Zombie Orpheus |

11. How would you even...
...make a parody of any of this?
That is, without just creating a refined version? How does anyone take this at face value? Holy...Darwin...Humans...this...is...just...bizarre... ![]() |

9. Truble is, old Mad Jack thinks that you *do* - I suspect that he
doesn't get out of doors much, it's far too dangerous out there for a homophobic, xenophobic, antisemitic, misogynistic, god-fearing old fart like him.
