I realized I haven't read Cyanide & Happiness for awhile (if you have never, you really need to--HILARIOUS). Came across this gem

(24,291 posts)Nun: And then the Priest turns the wine into the blood of Christ.
Me: You mean the wine, after being consecrated will symbolically represent the blood of Christ?
Nun: No, the wine actually turns into the blood of Christ.
Me: Are you sure? Have you ever tasted it?
Nun: Of course not, only the Priest is allowed to drink it.
Me: Okay, lady, whatever you say.
It was around this time I began to classify god in the same category as Santa Claus.

(24,291 posts)In the 50s and 60s, parishioners did not take part in drinking the wine. Only the Priest did so. I assume this means they have given up on the idea that it really turns into blood. Symbolism I can understand, turning wine into the blood of a guy who died two thousand years ago I cannot.
