Atheists & Agnostics

Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through. Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind Ray Charles
This year, in my capacity as Georgia State Director for American Atheists, Inc, I will bring new fights against those who would not only abrogate the First Amendment, but do so to the detriment of our children. There are two organizations that I will be focusing on this year, because they have chosen our public schools as their venue for proselytism, targeting the impressionable minds of our children and doing so, quite often, without the knowledge of their parents. Make no mistake, these will be difficult fights, as these organizations are large, well-funded and very influential in our schools. The fight will be worth it, though, because what is at stake is our future.
Here are two groups I will be targeting this year:
Child Evangelism Fellowship
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes

(49,990 posts)It was one of those things everyone else did so I tried it too. I was probably 14 or 15 yrs old.
It only took one meeting to creep me out. Got a weird holier-than-thou-cultish-clique vibe.

(9,356 posts)This 2011 documentary sounds weird/creepy enough that I might check it out. It's set in my native state, South Carolina...which doesn't surprise me one bit.
I saw the founder, "T-Money," doing some hard-core Xian witnessing on some TV show not long ago.
There's probably somebody out there doing "Boxing For Jebus" too. That might be more appropriate, according to some people I know who survived Baptist and Evangelical orphanages. Those places happily beat the love of Jesus right into the kids.
Wrestling for Jesus (2011)
Wrestling for Jesus is an award winning documentary. Timothy Blackmon felt the drive to evangelize to his fellow man, and did what seemed right in rural South Carolina: he founded an amateur Christian wrestling league to spread the Word...
It's tough work, both the praying and the fighting, and inevitably the challenges mount: injuries, family time, and a rival backyard wrestling gang known as the Throne of Anguish Wrestling Federation.
THRONE OF ANGUISH Wrestling Foundation? That does it, I gotta see this one!

(2 posts)We have a group similar to the "Wrestling for Jesus", people. It is almost as if they are training a militia.
They teach "Karate for Jesus", out in the woods of West Virginia.
Ohio Valley Atheists, targeted them this past year and made the owner so upset, he sent an (expletive-filled) email to the admin.
This wrestling under the pretense of Jesus, is wrong on so many levels. First, Jesus's message was supposed to be love. Secondly, this is obviously for males. It seems to discourage them from "unwanted thoughts" by being "masculine". Grabbing at thighs and chests doesn't seem very straight to me. If I were a young, gay man....I'd join the group! Lastly, it's sad that they are indoctrinating children in hate. Teaching them to use fists instead of their minds. It's dumbing down. And disgusting, in my eyes.
Thank you for targeting these (essentially, HATE) groups.
Kudos!
