Catholic Priest: I'd Deny Biden Communion Until He Repents and Converts

Catholic Priest: I’d Deny Biden Communion Until He Repents and Converts
By Hemant Mehta, March 21, 2021

In a video that went viral again over the weekend, a Catholic priest made it clear he would never give Joe Biden communion until he repented for being pro-choice… (not that Biden was asking him for any favors.)

The political-rant-disguised-as-a-sermon was delivered by Rev. William Kosco of St. Henry Catholic Church in Buckeye, Arizona on February 7. The full sermon is here, but the key excerpt is below:

… if you are pro-abortion, I am tempted to ask you to leave St. Henry Parish. Leave this parish. [I’m] tempted to say that, because then I think, “Where would you go?”

This is not just this parish that teaches this, this is the Catholic Church. The holy Catholic Church of God that teaches this. What parish would accept your views? Sadly, you would find one, and that is an indictment against the bishops. God help that parish that would let your ideas foster in their parish.

And so instead, I will not ask you to leave. Why? Because this may be your only chance to repent. To change your mind and to come to know the truth and finally embrace it. So I won’t ask you to leave. This is your chance for salvation.

You are welcome here even if you’re pro-abortion, but your ideas are not welcome here, and they will be given no quarter.

The same with Joe Biden. He’s a Catholic. He’s a member of the family. If, for some reason, he would be in Buckeye on a Sunday, Joe Biden is welcome to come to Mass here. His ideas are not welcome here.

And if you ask me a follow-up question: Would you give him communion? No. Over my dead body. Not until he repents. He’s a public figure. He needs to publicly repent, and we need to pray for his conversion.

Nothing like the member of an organization that facilitates child sex abuse telling everyone Joe Biden is a bad Catholic because he dares to let women control their own bodies.

Who is 'pushing back' now?

Bad ideas need to be condemned, for they inspire bad behavior.

This sounds like politics from the pulpit to me.
Pony up, Father Attention seeker.

This guy is not Biden's priest.
Biden doesn't need to covert to Catholicism because he is a practicing Catholic. Duh.
Isn't that whole sinning thing and repenting thing between God and the sinner?

Religious freedom my ass.
Religion is the antithesis of freedom.

Religion and Regulation derive from the same Indo European word root. Religions want to regulate what you can think, who you can sleep with, and what you can eat.

It’s bad enough that other media are giving him space to air his grievances. Why are we giving it to him here?

her own body is not welcome and will be given no quarter by the majority of Americans - possibly including his own congregation.

And consider also the possibility of forfeiting tax exempt status.

The RCC has made it abundantly clear that abortion and support for abortion are mortal sins. You are not to take communion when you have a mortal sin on your soul. If you confess that mortal sin, but don't change the action, it isn't forgiven. So, it's pretty clear that the church would have a problem with his active support for abortion.

I mean, the RCC can fuck right off, but this particular stance shouldn't shock anyone.

When their god did speak for himself, he had nothing to say about abortion. Or gays.

but point taken. It's just a pity they failed to document the full recipe, it would have come in handy for many centuries.

However, you're correct in that abortion was well known and widely enough practiced that you'd think a truly antiabortion god would have mentioned it in his list of commandments. instead of wasting the first 3 on egotism.

Also, once they'd discarded the idea of Limbo, Rome had completely kicked the church's objection to abortion right out from under it, although they haven't figured that one out yet. Abortion is now a win-win, the woman saves her life and sanity and the fetus goes right up to heaven. As I said, they haven't thought of that part, they're too busy being censorious.

Thanks for the citation.

Lessons are often taken from the examples Biblical characters provide, and perhaps how God supposedly reacts to the actions of these characters. If the Bible provide a (partial) recipe for an abortifacient, and describes a situation when it should be used, that's pretty much a Biblical recommendation unless the story ends with God smiting someone for it.
