I worked as a meteorologist for approximately 10 years or so both in the Air Force and as a civilian. I only witnessed 1 tornado in that time. I was able to view it for brief periods from the rooftop of an airport that I was working at. I had to run down to the office to report, then back up to watch, back to the office to report, etc... Luckily, the damage was limited to an unpopulated area. It was a very dangerous tornado and would have wreaked havoc on the city.

The footage posted here is absolutely amazing to me. The debris, the movement of the trees, the rotation, etc.
