Oman braces for historic landfall from Tropical Cyclone Shaheen

Within hours, Tropical Cyclone Shaheen will strike the northern coast of Oman. This hasn't happened during the satellite era (since the 1960s) and only two times prior to that. 8 to 20 inches of rain forecast in an area that averages 3-4" of rain per year!

days of power failures, mosquito bonanza, and then there’s the sewage issues which all might be new to Arab citizens. Edit: 14 years ago, the country experienced a typhoon, as described in the NPR link.

Meanwhile, i have probably seen 2-3 mm of rain in the past 367 days.
