Promise- the Yi San 이산 李祘 OST theme

I just finished watching the 77 episodes of the Yi San, the Wind in the Palace, historical drama about the tragic and inspiring life of King Jeongjo, 18th Century, Chosun monarch. Yi San was the grandson of King Yeongjo, the longest reigning King of Korea's Lee Dynasty. Yeongjo tragically executed Yi San's father, Crown Prince Sado. The drama line portrays Yi San himself as a lonely child without a father, brought up strictly by his grandfather, King Yeongjo. Yi San's grief and loneliness were relieved by his childhood friendship with two commoners, which would last a lifetime.

The 2009 dramatic series is characterized by spectacular sets, great acting by the leading players, and labyrinthine court intrigues from the dowager queen and the corrupt Noron faction at court who oppose Yi San as Crown Prince and later as King Jeongjo. The video clips on the OST suggest that the story is primarily romantic, but it is steeped in court politics and the Confucian concepts of virtuous rule. The OST theme Promise is beautiful.
