What Millennials think about the latest Hillary/Chelsea Clinton claim r.e. Sanders

I've seen OP's and individual posts talking about Hillary, Chelsea, and the Millennial vote. Below is an excerpt from Reddit's politics section. By default, posts are sorted by most popular (most "likes&quot . I've read through the first 200 responses, and they're overwhelmingly against Clinton. Sure, this is anecdotal, but I believe it's a lot easier to pick up on the zeitgeist at work by listening to what Millennials are saying, rather than polling them. And what they're saying does not bode well for Hillary Clinton.

Here's an excerpt, just a few comments. I'd urge you to look at the full post though. It was striking to me how much unanimity there was against Clinton.

"What exactly are Chelsea Clinton's credentials that anyone should give a fuck what she says about policy?
This isn't a monarchy, who your Dad (or husband, for that matter) is should not grant you any authority.
Enough Bushes, enough Clintons. New blood, please."
--

"The thing is she does not relate to young people at all. Most younger Americans are struggling with school loans, living with their parents, and finding a good job with benefits. Chelsea grew up in a powerful, well connected, millionaire family. She relates to most of us about as much as Hillary does."
--

"she married into Goldman Sachs, so she has to defend her mom who is sponsored by them as well."

This is not me cherry-picking the anti-Clinton comments. They're almost ALL negative.

And I'm not saying that with a false sadness to my voice--after all, a screwup like this helps my candidate. But I still think it was a monumental error for her to make. I think it further degrades her already heavily-damaged integrity.

When Hillary went on television this morning and said something like "I love my daughter and I understood what she meant", thinking people could see that she's selling her daughter down the river, pretending it was naive little Chelsea misspeaking. Everyone knows better, and it looks even more crass for Hillary to try to force Chelsea to take the hit.

I was debating the merits of single-payer with a "libertarian" (note quotes) the other day. As I finished providing all of the benefits over privatized health insurance, his response was, "And you expect the government to do better?"

My reply was simply, "Yes, of course. At least your life is not depended upon profit under a government-payer system."

And I say this as an anarchist.

...how deeply being anti-government has been embedded into the psyche of Americans.

Americans, for example, deeply believe that government is always inefficient and that private enterprise is always efficient.

Never mind the myriad counter-examples available to debunk both of those suppositions. Of course, sometimes government is indeed inefficient -- but the same people who think so, would not think of criticizing the worst example of government inefficiency, which is of course our military, who cannot account for billions upon billions of dollars (maybe even a trillion or more). And sometimes private enterprise is indeed very efficient.

I am all for private enterprise. But it is not the answer to everything. People who think it is, tend to be ideologues. For such people, no evidence will ever suffice to shake their convictions. Nor do they care how much "collateral damage" occurs due to their insistence that all things should be privatized, including health insurance, schools and prisons.

They are so sadly misinformed. I had a Facebook exchange the other day with someone who was trying to dis the post office. I asked them if, as someone who loved the Constitution, they were aware that a postal service was mentioned in the Constitution. Crickets.

In the abstract (and in a very tangible way, too; I guess that's a paradox), we are the government! People tend to forget this.

Now, I obviously have my issues with the concrete way the government is constructed, but that's neither here nor there for the purposes of this conversation.

There are a myriad examples where private enterprise (I hate saying free-enterprise, ain't nothing free about that under capitalism; though, you can have free-markets under certain socialist tendencies much freer then this cancer we call capitalism) is horribly inefficient, and deliberately so (in those counter-intuitive ways where being inefficient yields profits). Yet, the so-called haters of socialism never want to discuss how private enterprise hurts the majority and enriches the minority.

Note: private enterprise in this scenario regards large scale industrial and multinational corporations. Not community business and what one would call "mom and pop" shops.

Yes, fully agree with you!!!

It was definitely a misstep but it's not like you can really say you didn't see something like this coming. Hillary Clinton is politicking. Using her daughter was a strategy. Hillary Clinton doesn't see the the Presidency as a way to serve the people. She doesn't see it as a way to make the country better. She see it as an ACHIEVEMENT. It's like a football team trying to win the Super Bowl. They make adjustments. They change strategy. If something they are doing isn't working then they do something else depending on who they are up against. There's a plan to win. Things are calculated. The POTUS is a championship trophy to Hillary Clinton.
Bernie Sanders has been saying the same things for decades. It's not an achievement for him to become President. It's a way for him to make the country a better place. It's why his platform and messages have always been the same. He actually believes in them. Even if you don't think they're any good, he's at least honest enough to do something he believes in instead of doing or saying whatever it is he thinks will win him the trophy.

some times I wish I had morphine (well, not really. I don't want to be that out of it but the pain is shitty). I'm on Percoset and it doesn't do that much. I find red wine does better so in the evening I skip my evening dose of Percoset and have glass of red wine. what I'd really like is a very low dose of hydrocodone, which is what I had after surgery a few years ago. But I wasn't very active, didn't drive or do anything really. I was zonked.
