2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie's team addresses the personal attact on Bernie's health
With just two weeks to go before the Iowa caucuses, the super PAC coordinating with Hillary Clintons campaign is reportedly launching one of the most desperate and vile attacks imaginable: they are insinuating Bernie is too old and unhealthy to be our next president.
Let me be very clear with you: Bernie is in excellent health. But this personal attack is another example of a sickness in our democracy when it is so easy for millionaires and billionaires to buy up candidates and elections.
We are just three points behind in Iowa, but closing every day. We cant let super PAC attacks on Bernies health and health care plan scare people away from voting for Bernie.
Your $25 contribution to Bernies campaign could be the difference between victory and defeat in the Democratic primary for our political revolution. Make one more today.
In spite of these Karl Rove-style attacks, Bernies going to stay focused on the real issues impacting working families across the country. While he does that, we can make the millionaires and billionaires coordinating with the Clinton campaign pay a price for their attacks.
In solidarity,
Jeff Weaver

(15 posts)Like everything else in this race-just look at their record. Who passed out and had a concussion? Who has been going through the airport and taking economy seats? Who has been flying in private flights? Who has had other members of their family campaign for them? I realize that Bernie has or will need to take private flights to keep up with his grueling schedule. He does all of this and still gets back for most of the senate votes. He is incredibly active on the campaign trail and he is getting incredible results!

The letter did say that she has had two incidents of blood clots in the brain snd that she is on permanent blood thinning drugs.
A google search says her father died of a stroke.
I think her medical history combined with her genetic predisposition to stroke plus her age, which is only 5 years younger than Bernie, puts her at extreme high risk and she should not even be allowed to run.
I also think she just opened up a can of worms that she will soon wish had not been opened.

(62,325 posts)just a letter from a doctor, or were actual medical records. Regardless, that was a year ago. Brock and her campaign seem to be 'concerned' about Bernie's records re his age. Hillary is old too so I imagine they will be asking her, due to her age, to release some up to date records and not just a doctor's letter.

So as to an earlier post about how low she will go...She just slid downhill quite a bit with this one. It's moving from desperation to pathetic.
I just wish she wasn't the first woman at this national level. She's been tested and is screwing it up yet again...i.e. failing the test. It's starting to reinforce old and tired gender territory. And especially so, transposed against Sander's steady as he goes, same old-same old message. I'd be willing to guess he broke out in peals of laughter when he heard this.

You have a right to know if I can perform the essential functions of the job, but even there, you must consider appropriate accommodations and assistive devices in the execution of these tasks. Roosevelt, Lincoln, Kennedy, all had very challenging health issues. None of which had any bearing on the job of leader. Inclusion is canon in the Americans with Disabilities Act, and globally in the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. This is a basic issue of civil rights. The request for medical records is predicated on the presumption that popular opinion replaces actual knowledge in decision-making. This is a rationale of ignorance, and a charmingly american beard for blatant ageism & ableism. Then there is the banal ploy itself. This strategy reveals a lack of imagination and an absence of a moral compass.

It's disappointing to see David Brock freaking out over bad mistakes her main campaign has made. He's not helping her cause with this type of distraction. However, the WP sent out warnings that they would go negative (since, ha ha, Sanders did it first ...right ) because of the Two Visions ad.

If he "doesn't speak for the campaign", then they're a massively disorganized mess.
Also, this is very much in line with Brock's previous work. Anonymously toss out some attack, so that it's "out there", while the campaign claims it would never do that kind of thing.

Brock called the report false and said his group was never planning to go after Sanders health.
"never planning to go after", yeah, ok, no formal meetings were held.
"never planning to go after" right, you were going to just "raise concerns", not "go after".
But to me, the following are the words I especially took notice of.
"Sanders health". Ah, got you, you won't go after his health, just keeping talking about age. And being Brock it would be just endless prose hinting at not having it together, or his body falling apart.
Sure, the truth is that Sanders has been amazing, but this is Brock.

I thought he really had a life changing epiphany, I read his book, but evidently his transformation fell short of that. All things considered, it's time for lots of questioning about what he's been getting himself up to, in this election cycle.
