Related: About this forumA General Election campaign between Trump and Bernie would be EPIC
The ultimate captalist pig (and pig in every other respect, too) vs. the Democratic-Socialist. Sure, Trump will throw the Socialist crap at Bernie & how he will tax and spend this country to bankruptcy. Bernie, however, will fight back and ask how electing Trump will stop the excesses of Wall Street and explain that the ordinary tax payer is already paying thru the roof for the mess created by the greedy corporate elite of which Trump is one. And then the debates!!
It would be an exciting campaign--to say the least.

(130 posts)I really fear that it really would come down to that. History has proven that the electorate will pick an authoritarian fascist over a socialist, especially at a time when the socialist's ideas can easily be disintegrated by fear mongering.

(337 posts)at least on the surface, Bernie vs Trump gives them and their donors ZERO outs.
That would be a beautiful thing.

(6,960 posts)... for change.
Whether the boring Hillary Clinton campaign believes it or not, most economically distressed Americans are not anxious to go to the polls to vote for four more years of the same.
Even if people generally like Pres. Obama, a third Obama term is not what we need or want.
The economy is killing average Americans -- the wealth inequality crisis is burdening us more and more everyday.
And all Clinton proposes is "more of the same." The only big idea of her campaign is the 'her' part of her campaign.
Sanders versus Trump would be the epic battle we need to have. Complete oligarchical crony capitalism or democratic socialism (which we had and defended up until the so-called "Reagan Revolution" .
Sander will provide the vehicle to vote FOR a positive progressive agenda -- and Bernie won't let Trump get away with all his crap. This country is a lot more populist and progressive than the Repuglicans and Hillarian sticks-in-the-mud think it is. Give us a chance and we will transform American into a country that works for ALL the people.
