Martin O'Malley tells supporters to 'hold strong' on caucus night

Martin O'Malley had best performance of all national candidate events at #DemTownHall, writes @KObradovich http://dmreg.co/23pLNx6 #IAcaucus

____Martin O’Malley, in perhaps his best performance of all the nationally televised candidate events, got the audience cheering just by standing up and taking off his jacket. This format, a town hall with most of the questions from the audience at Drake University, played to his strengths as an engaging speaker with strong empathy for his audience.

O’Malley didn’t have a likeability problem — his problem is that voters aren’t convinced his electability. His best moment of this forum was when he was asked what his supporters should do if the O’Malley campaign isn’t viable in every caucus precinct. “My message to O’Malley supporters across the state is this: Hold strong at your caucus,” he said.

O’Malley’s performance will persuade his supporters to do just that, but the fact remains that Clinton and Sanders are battling for the caucus win. Beyond the likability factor, both leading candidates did well at contrasting their strengths and positions against the other without resorting to cheap shots or personal attacks.

...This campaign has been and will continue to be largely about issues and experience. But voters looking for some signs of humanity from these candidates saw glimmers from both of the poll leaders and a shining beacon from the underdog.

Anyway it sounded like "So, you aren't going to get any delegates from Iowa so who do you endorse?" I don't think we can say that at this point so the question to me is just telling people ahead of time to not bother supporting their candidate. I think we should wait til Feb 1st and just see what happens.

...but to be expected from people who've already chosen another candidate.

It's really bad this election for O'Malley, because the press narrative has been so cynical about his chances.

This morning I wrote this in a thread about Sanders just 'dropping out' - and I don't believe he will - or SHOULD:

That's not going to happen. He's not going to just up and quit. Not gonna happen.

Re FDR Democratic President.

I'm not ready for that.

It's 2016. I want to start in this century and move forward. This country is radically different than it was in 1932, 36, 40, 44 . . . It is different for me - and for a lot of people like me.

Old times should be forgotten

Enter a response pointing out something Clinton said.

Me responding:

O'Malley is my first and only choice.

I intend to stand strong until it's over. And it's not over until Super Tuesday.

We talked to 9 undocumented Iowans, and they all seem to like this one candidate

DES MOINES, Iowa — Immigration proposals have been mentioned at every single debate this election season, but absent from the conversation are the actual immigrants who would be directly impacted by reforms.

Just a week ahead of the Iowa caucuses, Fusion visited Iowa to ask undocumented immigrants what issues are important to them—and whom they would support this election season.

I don't say this often about a politician. I would let O'Malley speak for me.
