2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie Sanders goes Full Mondale, admits he will raise your taxes
But Bernie Sanders did just that at Mondays CNN town hall in Des Moines, Iowa. It was always clear that Sanderss plans to increased social security payments, free college tuition and universal health care would be expensive. Critics said those plans could never be paid for without huge tax increases. And Sanders acknowledged as much in Des Moines, giving his opponents a soundbite tailor-made for attack ads.
We will raise taxes, he admitted. Yes, we will.

I can't believe how much Republicanesque argument I'm seeing around this place.

(16,974 posts)they went to the Hillary group and ..........
I recently got banned from the Bernie Sanders group. I posted over 20+ positive articles to the group. Due to a slip up (I accidentally posted something in the Bernie group when it was meant for GDP), Autumn has permanently banned me. I pleaded with her to give me a second chance and that I was willing to take a suspension and go on a probationary period, but she was firm in her decision. So, I can never post in the Bernie group again .
I've never posted in the Hillary group before, but I'm willing to be a good trooper and post positive and interesting articles about Hillary Clinton. I usually post in GDP, but I like to get away from it once in away and take a breather. I hope you guys welcome me and I will do my best to help Secretary Clinton get the nomination and win the presidency. Thank you.

Know why?
Because obviously, Hillary cannot run on the issues.

(80,708 posts)Still, "bait and switch" would imply that I provided the bait and then switched the result or prize after the bait was taken. The only coherent interpretation I can get from that exchange up there is, you were saying that "lets elect the first woman president" was the bait, and I "switched" the obviously implied Hillary Clinton with Elizabeth Warren;
except, the "bait" came from you, not me.
So "bait and switch" doesn't make any sense in that context.

AND his medicare for all plan saves families and businesses thousands per year so yeah, keep telling the truth Bernie. Honesty is such a lonely word.

(32,886 posts)Interestingly enough, Mondale polled even with Reagan in December of 1983, and then lost by 18 percent.
Which is exactly what would happen with Sanders.
