Romney to CPAC: I'm "severely conservative".

from WaPo..

Mitt Romney gave a detailed defense of his own conservative credentials Friday before a convention of right-wing activists, telling them that his life as a businessman and Massachusetts governor had been a series of battles for Republican ideals.

“I know conservatism, because I have lived conservatism,” Romney told a packed ballroom at the Conservative Political Action Conference, in a speech in which he underlined the point by saying “conservative” or “conservatism” 24 times. At some points, even those words weren’t strong enough: Romney called himself a “severely” conservative governor in Massachusetts.

==========

What a dumb comment. Maybe he meant I'm severely constipated.

It sounds like a desperate insincere plea.. which it is. Apparently his speech did not help him with the cons at all. This guy simply is unable to fake being a conservative. He doesnt even have the lingo down.

Mittens will have to move right and in so doing will alienate the Independents/moderates. He is really in a box.

i'm paraphrasing but something like -"audiences who hear him speak are begging and pleading to hear him say something they don't like" lol! he just can't bring himself to not tell an audience what the want to hear.. can u say PANDERING... he looks less and less authentic every day.. understand why conservatives aren't "in love" with him ha ha!. .. you call yourself SEVERELY conservative to appeal to the wolfs at cpac?? really? what a dumb thing to say...

He seems to have no problem dumping on his Repugs

I think he has a bigger problem with the constitution. he seems to overlook some parts. He really is a good RePUG. I mean you all have to think about how the how the constitution fits into today and all the problems that man be somewhat instead of saying it won't work. I always thought that was the realm of the Supremes.

But I think that the GOP can give up anybody for the election and Barack Obama, his actions so far and his color will govern this election. I think that this go-around his color may be the biggest factor with indies and repubs.
