When we told him about how most of the victims have not been paid and warned him that the network wouldn't like it for him to do this story since BP was one of the biggest advertisers in the country (no media people we have worked with in the past would touch this story do to threats by BP to cut their advertising), Ed said that he didn't care and ended up airing a story a day for a week and a day on the subject.
Between the BP stories and his support of Bernie he had to go! Like Bernie, Ed Schultz is a brave and principled man!

(210 posts)MSNBC used to be on 6-10pm daily at my house. And also at many of my family and friend's houses. The way they did Keith and Ed Schultz made everybody I know quit watching completely. Now they are going to let this complete conflict of interest ride? What a joke!

(2,262 posts)Comcast/Xfiniti is the pressure behind all the MSNBC people backing Hillary, or at least leaning her way with all the Hillary parade of people they march onto the set. Comcast is big corporate and Bernie threatens their income and power existence. Once upon a time and in my lifetime, news was for the public good and was not a profit center. All that has changed. That is why virtually any and all media wants Hillary. They are all in this together.

I can't believe how bad this looks for Mr. Matthews and others. I am going to hold off commenting at this moment because I am furious and need calm down.
Please think about giving this video a little more exposure here at DU.
Again, thank you for this post.

(5,002 posts)Not a surprise. I really wish they made these pundits disclose their ties or wear Nascar-like patches on their clothes when they talk.
Has Howard Dean ever been introduced as lobbyist for Denton, representing large pharmaceutical companies? Nope - it's always former DNC chairman and Governor.
Does Joy Reid give her "opinion" without disclosing that she is supporting Hillary Clinton?
When Alex Wagner is on a panel, does anyone introduce her as the daughter of Carl Wagner, who co-chaired Bill Clinton's campaign?

My Question: Do you even know Chris Matthew's wife's name? Do you know anything about her?
I find it interesting that she is only identified as someone's "wife."
She has a name, and a separate life from her husband. SAY HER NAME! Her name is Kathleen Matthews. She exists. She is a real candidate. She's running for office. Don't insult her by refusing to say her name, please.

(146,336 posts)It's insulting to call her "Chris Matthews' wife" and not even mention her name. That kind of crap really pisses me off. It's misogynistic and then some.
She is running for office, not Chris Matthews. I don't live in her district so I won't be voting for her or anyone else there.
It's a matter of courtesy, or discourtesy in this case.

(628 posts)As I mentioned in a post yesterday, Thom had Chris Matthews on yesterday. Chris Matthews was a total asshole and wouldn't let up on calling Bernie a SOCIALIST. Even when Thom corrected him with Democratic Socialist he wouldn't let up. He was being nasty and his disdain for Bernie was obvious. Thom said he understood a little more after seeing the MoveOn info what might be going on, but he said he would not sign the petition because Tweety had a right to his opinion.

(42,862 posts)... where just about ANYONE can use the online tool to create a petition for ANYTHING (no matter how silly) with only a bare minimum of administrative moderation.
I guess the only requirement is that the petition-writer be "liberal" and be "outraged" at something.
"But, hey! Look! We've got a PETITION going! That proves how SERIOUS we are!"
Go, Hillary! Go, Kathleen Matthews! We love you!

(978 posts)Isn't it nice to have such an "honest journalist" like Chris Matthews who calls it right down the middle and no close ties with donations to his wife's campaign and Hillary will off course NEVER influence his reporting.
He is such an honest news hound!
Since 2003 when he scolded Phil Donahue for not beating the war drumbs for Bush jr but had the audacity to criticise the war mongering!
Chris Matthews comes back years later on Bill Maher and gets upset for being caught in supporting Bush, and then lies about it on the same show.
Didn't PHil Donahue get fired after that?
I am so glad that the owners keep their journalists honest in line for the real news and avoid "liberal bias" at all cost.
Nothing to see here. No family ties. No Justice Thomas and Scalia here.
Just honest "liberals" who are doing their best for America by keeping those nasty Bernie supporters and himself out of power. That would shake the foundation!
And Hillary is not estabihment. She's an outsider!
And her support from a famous famoustransphobe masquerading as a feminist and an ex. secretary of state who threatened all female supporters with hell if they voted for Bernie is just "strong opinions based on wisdom and experience".
I am sorry. But if Hillary gets selected, how do you think you will reach out to all the Bernie supporters your side have done a Karl Rovian job with alienating so far?
How is she more electable than any of the republican candidates?
How will she get anything done with close ties to Wall Street and refuse to give up the transcripts from her speeches?
Off course!
It's Hillary!
Trust Comcast, Chris Matthews and Hillary Clinton!
Nothing to see here folks!
