LOL! National Review wants Gingrich to Drop Out, Endorse Santorum

Santorum's Turn
by The Editors

At the moment Rick Santorum appears to be overtaking Newt Gingrich as the principal challenger to Mitt Romney. Santorum has won more contests than Gingrich (who has won only one), has more delegates, and leads him in the polls. In at least one poll, he also leads Romney. It isn’t yet a Romney–Santorum contest, but it could be headed that way.

We hope so. Gingrich’s verbal and intellectual talents should make him a resource for any future Republican president. But it would be a grave mistake for the party to make someone with such poor judgment and persistent unpopularity its presidential nominee. It is not clear whether Gingrich remains in the race because he still believes he could become president next year or because he wants to avenge his wounded pride: an ambiguity that suggests the problem with him as a leader. When he led Santorum in the polls, he urged the Pennsylvanian to leave the race. On his own arguments the proper course for him now is to endorse Santorum and exit.

Santorum has been conducting himself rather impressively in his moments of triumph and avoiding characteristic temptations. He is doing his best to keep the press from dismissing him as merely a “social-issues candidate.” His recent remark that losing his Senate seat in 2006 taught him the importance of humility suggests an appealing self-awareness. And he has rightly identified the declining stability of middle-class families as a threat to the American experiment, even if his proposed solutions are poorly designed. But sensible policies, important as they are, are not the immediate challenge for his candidacy. Proving he can run a national campaign is.

I'm actually reading a biography on the supreme douchebag behind National Review, William F. Buckley. The magazine was basically the precursor to drivel like Fox News, Rush Limbaugh. Buckley was one major player in fusing crony-capitalist "libertarianism", bigotry, and theocracy into today's monster. There was a time in America when what we now call conservatism was looked down upon by mostly everyone, thanks to a well-funded education system. In many ways Archie Bunker is as accurate a representation of conservatives today as he was in the 1970s. It's actually really scary comparing quotes from Herbert Hoover and this pathetic menagerie of candidates from an increasingly deluded party moving further to the right every minute.

Newt Gingrich is the most successful joke candidate ever. Seriously, here's a list of his unrealistic fucking expectations: 0% Capital Gains Tax, 12% Corporate Tax, Repeal of Dodd-Frank Reforms, the elimination of the EPA and Department of Energy, the eliminiation of the estate tax, I could go on... all of which will somehow pay for a permanent extension of the Bush tax cuts and a motherfuckin' moon colony. Never mind that his administration would probably cut NASA down to... I dunno, nothing. To top it off, this rotten asshole got away with the same marital affairs that ruined John Edwards, and still had the gall to destroy the character of President Clinton for some affair that occurred 30+ years ago. The fact that this man is revered by anybody on the right really shines light on the intelligence of red states, and why the electoral college needs to be abolished in favor of a national popular vote.

He actually tried to out think the people he disagreed with and used actual facts.

Don't think he appreciated religious nuts much either.

For the record Buckley's son endorsed Obama.

This group isn't worthy to wipe his late boots. Buckley was also the one who sought to drive the anti-semites away from the party (publically called out Pat Buchanan about his hatred).

He liked the establishment republicans and I suspect the teabaggers would be getting some pretty rancid reviews from him.

As such, I'd dearly LOVE to se him as the republican nominee this year.

I'd be having my jollies in all my glory watching on election night as President Obama wiped the floor with him coast to coast as 40 or more states went blue.

PEACE!

It's Santorum's billionaire's turn.

I really only first heard of him as Gingrich's money man. After than I had heard from The Maddow Show that he was not writing checks to Newt.

That's about the totality of what I know. I just Googled for the provided links because I didn't know what show or what segment of my original source to link.

That site certainly looks to be the most accurate.
And they give raw data of pledged delegates. So we have some chance of working stuff out for ourselves.

Every source shows a different delegate count. CNN even disagrees with itself !
