New York times reports former Mitt advisor has formed a group that is using social media to foment division among progressives. They've succeeded in getting progressive luminaries like Bill McKibben to spread their content.

"No one thinks attacking Mrs. Clinton from the left is likely to turn the most liberal Democrats into Republican voters. But Steven Law, president of American Crossroads, said the goal was simply to erode what should be her natural core of support.
It can diminish enthusiasm for Hillary among the base over time, he said. And if you diminish enthusiasm, lukewarm support can translate into lackluster fund-raising and perhaps diminished turnout down the road.
This year, Zac Moffatt, a co-founder of Targeted Victory, a right-leaning political technology firm, who handled Mr. Romneys digital operation and has worked with groups like America Rising and American Crossroads, laid out the strategy in a memo to several clients. There was a hole to fill in the market, he said, and if Democrats were not willing to challenge Mrs. Clinton, Republicans could do it themselves.

(6,282 posts)There just aren't good explanations for her behavior, so the justifications happen to read like a parody of a defense of a candidate.

(24,411 posts)This is such bunk.
This is an attempt to position the Democratic base as a bunch of impressionable nitwits who can't think for themselves and are succumbing to right-wing attacks.
It appears that the Clinton camp is noticing the strong dislike for her within the Democratic party and they're trying to blame her erosion of support on evil Republicans who are convincing the base. Oh please.
That is ridiculous. Look back at DU when Obama ran against Hillary. Plenty of the same vitriol back then. The base has never liked her. The fact that she's vying for the Presidency is turning up the volume--and frankly--our fear. I'm terrified of her anywhere near our White House!
I'm so sick of Hillary and her messaging robots attempting to aid themselves by fucking over the base of the party. And she's blaming us for causing "lackluster fund-raising" and "diminished turnout." What a narcissist! If you're losing in fundraising and if you have depressed turnout it is because of WHO YOU ARE! The base doesn't like warmongering, your neocon friends and your Wall Street bribes. Quit insulting us!
Sorry Hillary--we're just not that into you and we haven't been in your corner for a long, long time.
Wow, what a liar. Does she ever stop lying? I love being lied about! Makes me want to run right out and support her in the GE!
