... there is a small subset of individuals who'll be so personally disappointed with our party's nominee that they will be obsessed with "revenge" and "teaching someone a lesson". Oh, you know the ones I mean ... they're the ones who regularly suggest that in order to "rebuild the party" we must "destroy it".

That makes about as much sense as a homeowner with a leaky pipe who wants to burn down his entire house rather than just fix the plumbing. It's not very smart.

But, fortunately, it is a small subset. Folks who actually think like that aren't as common in real life as the frequency of their posts here would suggest.

Go, Hillary! We love you!

Revenge will not be the motive for people not voting.

Many will simply see it that Hillary is not much different than a Republican.

Despite her many accomplishments, Hillary is not an inspirational figure to people who are not already in love with her.

She does not motivate the youth vote, and she certainly will not bring the independent vote.

No, I didn't. Look again. I chose my words with care. Your characterization of my observations is unfair.

Revenge will not be the motive for people not voting.

Yes it will.

Many will simply see it that Hillary is not much different than a Republican.

Thoughtful and mature voters will be able to make the distinction.

Despite her many accomplishments, Hillary is not an inspirational figure to people who are not already in love with her.

She's infinitely more qualified than ALL of the candidates from BOTH parties.

She does not motivate the youth vote, and she certainly will not bring the independent vote.

I have more confidence in the intelligence of the "youth vote" and "independent vote".

Go, Hillary! We love you!

The motivation will be apathy. I see it all around me. People don't care enough.

> Thoughtful and mature voters will be able to make the distinction.

I'd say you described about 20% of the voting population here.

> I have more confidence in the intelligence of the "youth vote" and "independent vote".

Not the polls I've seen. Not the interviews I've heard.

Republicans and conservatives hate Hillary more than you could ever love her. They are well known for voting against what they don't want. They will be more motivated and organized to not vote for her than anyone who is not already a supporter to vote for her.

Many more moderate Republicans will indeed vote for Hillary over a Trump. If Team Bernie supporters are too apathetic to vote, that is their problem. I have a lot more confidence in the youth of this country than that.

Republican rank-and-file hate Hillary as they have been told to do so by Rush and Hannity for 25 years.

It's the Republican establishment that dislikes Trump, and they are learning now to embrace him. Republican voters seem to love him.

People who are actually on Team Bernie will largely come out to vote for the Democratic candidate.

The youth feel disenfranchised by consecutive administrations asserting corporate control over our democracy. They will not come out to vote for anyone but Bernie.

We can agree to disagree or not. I do not care.

If you respond to this, you may have the last word. I will not answer you.

OK, I'm going to have to post yet ANOTHER article from the Daily Banter here, but as usual, it's spot on.

The Political Press Needs To Grow a Pair When It Comes To Dealing With Trump

Donald Trump isn't your average candidate and he isn't running your average campaign. It's time for the political media to stop pretending he is.

Picture for just a moment, say, Jake Tapper. He’s a fantastic political journalist and a seemingly decent guy, someone who’s always above-board and who tends to call it like he sees it, minus any of the usual ass-kissing or side-taking we see in a lot of others of his ilk. You can easily imagine Tapper succinctly putting political miscreants in their place because he’s competent and dedicated enough to understand that politics isn’t simply a horse race; there are real-world consequences to who the people choose to represent them and the decisions those leaders make while in office. And yet, while he’s called out a few individual transgressions during this election cycle, for reasons no one with a working frontal lobe will ever comprehend Jake Tapper has yet to just stand up and quit on national television in protest of what the hell this election season is saying about America. He should. He should lose his mind on-air. In fact, anybody covering this miasma should lose his or her mind.

It'd hope.

I'm not personally scared of Trump. And I'll refuse to vote for someone I don't trust and think is extremely corrupt.

The Hillary supporters should be thankful that Hillary isn't their only option.

But by embracing someone that is going to lose in the GE they're going to get what THEY are afraid of.

I'd suggest voting for what you want though.

I haven't really heard any Clinton supporters say what they think they're gonna get from Hillary though.

Democrats are 30% of the electorate. 30% is not enough to win.

We are going to need left-leaning independents, and we can't rely on "Republican bad!!!" to get them. They are to the left o the median Democrat, so "not as bad" is not sufficient.
