Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Tuesday picked up the support of Living United for Change in Arizona, a group whose aim is to organize the state's lower-income and minority families in the pursuit of "social and economic justice."
Sanders, a left-leaning independent U.S. senator from Vermont who won this month's New Hampshire primary, is trying to regain his momentum after a loss to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Saturday's Democratic caucuses in Nevada.
LUCHA officials were set to announce their endorsement Tuesday afternoon during a news conference at Sanders' Phoenix campaign headquarters.

(7,231 posts)Strange how that always goes for Bernie and never for Clinton. Amazing that she only gets endorsements from unions that ignore their membership.

(4,961 posts)Organizing at the grassroots level is pretty sad. At one time real Democrats would applaud local organizations doing the work LUCHA is doing. Guess it's not elite and establishment enough to matter to the Clinton type democrats.

(1,021 posts)Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about the endorsement either way. Still curious if this was one of those cases that seem to be part of a broader trend we've seen so far in this primary: when membership decides, Bernie typically gets the endorsement, when leadership decides, Hillary typically gets the endorsement (even when said organization gives Bernie a better lifetime rating on their issue, sadly).

(4,961 posts)Robles said LUCHA chose to speak out because its 800 members are "frustrated with the establishment" and feel Sanders is the candidate whose values most closely align with their goals.
Sounds like member driven to me.

Y'know..... the little people....
The arrogance of Hillary and her court just makes me want to vote for Sanders more and more.
