2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhy did the Republican NV caucuses seem to be run so much better than the Democrat Caucuses?
I only watched some of the coverage but CNN seemed to REALLY focus on the checks and balances the Republicans put in place for their caucuses.
There was one site where mention was made of confusion or something (don't recall what word was used) because so many people showed up but the host replied that the caucuses were well run based on what they had showed.
Compare that to people coming into the Democrat caucuses without registering, the crash of the registration system , etc.
Since Harry Reid has been an elected Democrat from Nevada for decades and turnout was supposedly less than before why the
chaos ?

(12,685 posts)Imagine, they will be seen as the defenders of the Democratic Process (which is REALLY perverted when you think about the fraud that occurred in 2000 and 2008). But then again, Trump isn't weighed down by that baggage. Notice how he calls out ANY perceived cheating.

(86 posts)LAS VEGAS Long lines. Not enough ballots. Reports of double voting. Tuesdays Republican caucus in Nevada was plagued with irregularities, after a high turnout overwhelmed the notoriously disorganized system.
At one voting site in Valley High School in Las Vegas, caucus-goers wandered around in confusion, asking each other if anyone worked there.
They said someone will come. No one has come, one woman said sadly.
This is very overwhelming and very disorganized, her neighbor agreed.

Time to get rid of the caucus and go to back to a primary in Nevada.

it obviously wasn't, ergo:
it's getting ugly in Nevada, as reporters at the state's Republican caucuses are spotting irregularities, disorganization and violations of caucus rules.
Much of the controversy has centered around caucus personnel. At some sites, caucus volunteers were accused of failing to require proper voter identification or take other anti-fraud measures--leading to voters casting multiple ballots. Other areas were plagued by long lines and missing ballots. And in one precinct, would-be voters reportedly showed to their caucus location to discover the site hadnt been set up at all.
Early in the evening, there was controversy over caucus volunteers wearing pro-Donald Trump clothing while organizing the caucuses or counting ballots, but the Nevada GOP tweeted out that wearing such clothing did not violate any rules.

(94,596 posts)All the Republicans do is show up and fill out a ballot. The Democrats actually meet to discuss and debate the choices, AS well as select representatives for Party conventions which will discuss issues facing the State and locality.
