2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhere’s the “No shit, I was there” crowd?
Wheres the No shit, I was there crowd? Those speeches werent delivered to empty rooms. At the very least, given the number of speeches, there were hundreds of listeners, if not thousands. Those numbers include event staff, workers with no vested career interest in the subject matter; theyre always there, unobtrusively keeping glasses and plates filled; they arent blind or deaf, just ask Mitt Romney.
So how come no film has emerged, no tape has surfaced, no program has breathlessly aired on Fox exposing the nefarious content of at least one speech, especially in an age when tabloids pay ridiculous sums for such tales? Again, where are all those people, and why arent they all over the media?

(15,382 posts)Timing is everything when it comes to something like that.
On the other hand, besides the Romney video, how many other politically damaging videos like that have surfaced of candidates in presidential campaigns? Of all the hundreds or thousands of private speeches to political donors, that's the only one with that kind of impact I know of.
Perhaps such videos are not nearly as ubiquitous as you may think.
Hillary should be proud to release the transcripts of those speeches if they validate her promises to reign in Wall Street abuses. In fact, if videos exist, have none fallen into the hands of Hillary supporters who would like to prove Hillary hasn't been catering to the interests that pay her so much money for her speeches to them?

(15,558 posts)Conversely by your logic, why haven't they come forward to tell us how innocuous the speeches were?
Senator Tankerbell
(316 posts)I think the reason other attendees aren't coming forward is because a lot of them support Hillary so they don't want to hurt her campaign.

(6,123 posts)...the silence says everything. No attendee has stepped up to say that the speeches were innocuous.
Sometimes silence screams the truth.

(20,886 posts)What if there are no transcripts? What if that money just mysteriously appeared in her bank account with a "speech fee" label on it?

(28,749 posts)It was a good speech, nothing really all that exciting to be honest.
She mocked out CEO a bit, said it should really be a woman by now (it still isn't)... But that was really the only big line. She was very motivational for us and I enjoyed it.
We have tape of it, maybe not the whole thing I'm not sure but it's on our internal network... And no I'm not about to post it. I like my job.

(36,392 posts)So Mrs Clinton is saying she will eventually release transcripts of speeches that never actually happened? I thought conspiracy theories weren't allowed in gdp
