2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSomething we all should remember. We are not our candidates.
Supporting a candidate who is winning does not make you personally a winner or superior. There is a certain degree of hubris going on. Face it, you're not one of the "cool kids" just because you're following them around.
And Sanders supporters (including me) have to remember that supporting a candidate who is not winning does not make you a loser on a personal level. Nor should we be whiny bitter assholes. Okay, maybe we have a right to be angry and frustrated, and its tempting to vent. But let's try to stay somewhat classy.
And it ain't over til the Fat, er Person Sings.

(13,889 posts)Now you are probably wondering how I am posting on DU when the TV is saying - LIVE - that I am doing something completely other, but that's just how badass I am. You would be shocked if you know about all my superpowers.

(13,889 posts)...but if I told you, I'd have to commit a crime so unspeakable that you 4-dimensional lifeforms don't even have a name for it.

(6,282 posts)This is a disappointing night, but I am still with Sanders for raising the issues that are most important and for having the integrity to stand for what he believes. And not with Clinton, nor will be, because she fails on these issues. I'm all in on the progressive movement, and Bernie is an important part of that. If the conservative Clinton supporters here aren't okay with us talking about the issues, they can take a hike. The issues are what matters, not the candidates.
The candidates are the tool we use to achieve the country we want via their ideas on the issues. Anything else is not really democracy or government.
The one thing we do not want to emulate is this:
"The issues are what matters, not the candidates. The candidates are the tool we use to achieve the country we want via their ideas on the issues. Anything else is not really democracy or government. "
