The wide divide in support is a significant development which deserves highlighting; both the reality and the reaction to those voters.

(5,018 posts)on the radar of the vast majority of voters, Clinton has been leading this big with blacks since the beginning of the campaign, before Sanders was even known to anyone. DU and the Internet political community in general is a bubble within a bubble, and many think these online communities reflect the majority of actual voters, but they don't.
That's why many Sanders supporters on DU think stories posted here about Clinton's corporate ties MUST be making waves, when almost no voters know or care, or Hillary supporters think "Bernie Bros" are hurting Sanders when almost no voters know or care.
Liberal_Stalwart71
(20,450 posts)supporters are tone deaf.
They are not black but they continue to tell us black folk what has happened to us.
That's why he's losing. And his supporters have made it all the more worse for him.
MellowDem
(5,018 posts)Where is the evidence? Clinton was winning this big among blacks before Bernie was even a candidate, what makes anyone think Internet forum arguments are why he is losing? He was never winning them in the first place!
It's quite possible, even more probable, that people are voting the way they are based on a million other factors than internet arguments, as has always been the case. Things like ideology and electability.

Liberal_Stalwart71
(20,450 posts)He even insulted them by suggesting they aren't as intelligent as other voters outside the American South.
That is incredibly insulting.
MellowDem
(5,018 posts)That's political strategy rather than anything nefarious. And he probably calculated the little pick up he could get by spending lots of time there wasn't as great as the pickup from campaigning in states with more friendly demographics, and he was probably right about that.
His message and politics don't resonate with many black voters, it is what it is, and he's pretty consistent in his messaging, so it's not likely he would change his message to fit specific demographics like many politicians do. I'm glad he doesn't, it's an honest way to go about it, and people know what they're voting for.

(10,164 posts)But the black voter community contains a LOT of people who really aren't all that liberal. Those relatively conservative black voters aren't going to register and vote Republican, even if there's some policy agreement, because today's GOP has a well-earned reputation of not acting in black people's interests (and in many cases being outright racist). So they vote Democrat...and are going to pick the conservative option. Black progressives may well lean towards Bernie...but they aren't that big a group.
Personally, I think anyone not in the ruling 1%'er elite who doesn't opt for Bernie isn't acting in their own best interest, regardless of race. But that's not my call to make for anyone but myself...

(11,243 posts)than voted for your guy in AL Or just about. So pretty sure they just don't like him.
The AA community is not monolithic and most are waaaaay more economically liberal than whites. Sanders most certainly could have done much, much better in that demographic. He was never going to win it, but he also didn't need to. He cratered due to his own campaign missteps.
MellowDem
(5,018 posts)because of perceived conflicts on DU, this was likely to happen from the start. Clinton has been polling this well with blacks since the beginning.

(1,377 posts)this is how you vote based on stupidity of supporters and not on message of candidate then I don't even know what to say. It is a rather simple minded opinion system to hate Sanders cause some people on internet acted rudely because they claim to support Sanders.
BTW is Hilary dissing BLM tonight since she never mentioned them tonight..Odd they did not get a nod from her after all south heavy African American states are done. When we get to Detroit I bet she ignores them there too because she really can not bring that up because she is supporting Rahm Emanuel who really is not a good person to BLM as he covered up one most obvious assaults on a African American.

Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Yet another racist diatribe from a bottomless pit of same. Hide it ...... and him/her.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Agree with the first two sentences of the alert. Not sure if the third is correct, but I jury posts, not posters.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: You want this hidden? I am sure it will be. You talk about LS's rage. They deserve the right to rage at their children dying in the street at an abnormal rate. "A rage filled hate machine", such a cruel statement from you. Yes there is rage and so much suffering at their loss, yet you call them a machine, that says they are robotic and less than human. Yes you all shat on black people and have done it over and over. You should be ashamed. LEAVE IT ALONE!

(45,251 posts)Some DUers post jury results on occasion, usually when they have some agenda or point to make of their own. Some of them who post results seldom also identify themselves; some do not.
I post jury results every time I serve, unless something else is going on at that time that prevents me because I like transparency, period. I'm not sure anyone else here does that. If they do, they sure don't identify themselves every time.
By now, you should know I did not fall off the turnip truck yesterday. You should also know that whatever point you think you're making is not going to impress anyone over 6, except maybe the folks at hillarysupporters.com and I'm sure they're duly impressed with you anyway. It's not going to change anyone's mind about me--and I'm not sure I'd care if it did/

What you said
Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)AA voters don't have any more of a hivemind than anyone else.
What made the difference was the endless repetition of the lie that Bernie cared less about defeating racism than about defeating economic injustice.
There never has been a conflict between those two causes, and both forms of injustice need to be defeated if either is to stay defeated.
A good man was slandered and false divisions were created.
No one but the rich will ever benefit from that.

(9,688 posts)I don't understand it, though.
I don't understand why.
I won't listen to some diatribe about the awfulness of "white progressives" as an explanation.
I won't listen to some diatribe about how "white progressives" are racist.
It is what it is.
I don't think Hillary Rodham Clinton can win without "white progressives" and "the liberal left".
I don't.
How do you win after putting "economic justice" against "social justice" as your center piece, then calling those who promote economic justice ... racists? BernieBros? White supremacists? And also misogynist sexists?
I mean, wtf?
So how does Hillary Rodham Clinton intend to walk this back? How can she pull back the ratfucking swiftboating Brock and substitute something unifying, to make everyone forget?
Tell me.

(2,197 posts)White voters were 86% of the electorate and sanders won white voters in Massachusetts 50-49
Non-White voters were 14% of the electorate and Clinton won them 61-39
6% Latino, 4% Black, 4% Asian, 1% Other
The inability to do a little bit better with POC voters hurt Sanders in Iowa and it seems to have hurt him in Massachusetts.
