Bernie knows it`s not just about winning.
Bernie Sanders understands the discontent in the Democratic Party and elsewhere and I give him a lot of credit for igniting a fire under that sentiment and leading it to a microphone. I`m sure he was aware of the obstacles that would be dropped in his path because there`s plenty of party and mainstream media history about what happens to "leftist" candidates, even though leftist candidates always focus on helping those who need help the most. Folks on the left don`t bend that easily on their core values and issues, so they`re a bit more difficult for Corporate Headquarters to whip into shape.
Bernie`s campaign has been joined by some important activists and a lot of like-minded people. I rather doubt all this support will either A. evaporate or B. morph into enthusiastic Hillary support. My guess is that this wonderful grassroots effort will continue on, perhaps with some new Wellstone/Warren-type leaders. And since Bernie`s movement is a bottom-up one, I assume support will grow.
One of the best things that have happened is the emergence of new-found courage coming from the Democratic Party`s left wing, a wing that has long been scorned by the Establishment Wing....except when they need our votes.
Whether Bernie wins or loses, I`m really excited about the future of his movement and I know there are millions more like me.
