Regardless of how well Bernie does today, the media will say Hillary is now the Democratic candidate. Baloney. The "momentum" theory of politics is based on momentum stories the media itself generates. Dont succumb to the momentum game. Regardless of what happens today, this race is still very much alive, for at least 3 reasons:
1. In the next few months the primary map starts tilting in Bernies favor: In later March: Maine, Michigan, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Arizona, Washington state, and Hawaii. In April: Wisconsin, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island. In May: Indiana and Oregon. In June, California, New Jersey, and New Mexico.
2, Small-donor contributions continue to flow in to Bernie's campaign. In February, the campaign raised a whopping $42 million. South Carolinas loss didnt stop the flow: The campaign received $6 million on Monday alone.
3. Bernie's campaign is a movement. Americans know we must get big money out of politics and take back our economy from an incipient oligarchy. Thats why Bernie will take this movement all the way to the Democratic convention in, July 25-28 in Philadelphia (you might make plans to be there, too).
What do you think?

(7,393 posts)Your Mr. Reich is a giant hypocrite. He loved NAFTA and supported it fully. Now criticizes Clinton for it. And he gets paid $250k per year to teach one class at a public university, but doesn't understand why tuition costs are so high. On top of that he charges $100k for a one hour speech.
He's easily the biggest hypocrite to endorse anyone in this primary.

(16,203 posts)Would you rather he never learned from his mistakes?
He'd be less of a hypocrite if he drew a 250k salary from Wall Street, and that would be a good thing?

(12,081 posts)Hillary because there is no way Bernie can win. Traditional media is dying. The older folks that are already in Hillary's corner are really the only ones really paying attention to the traditional media.

(13,340 posts)... but as an economist, he needs to actually do the math. If he does, he will see that Bernie's path is very narrow indeed, and after March 15, it will be all but gone.

(3,813 posts)If the FBI files charges regarding its investigation into classified information on Hillary's private e-mail server before the Democratic Convention, it will be really hard to argue that anyone other than Bernie deserves the nomination.
If the FBI sits on charges until after the Convention, and then files them, Democrats are pretty screwed. Is that a gamble that appeals to you?
Of course, if there is nothing to see there, then no charges will be filed. But what if something with the Clinton Foundation blows? Or evidence of a quid pro quo between foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation and Hillary's actions as Secretary of State emerges?
Frankly, I am baffled that anyone paying attention would be even slightly inclined to vote for Hillary. Regardless, the 'math' is still quite uncertain at this point.

(2,361 posts)Bernie's run has been great for the democratic process. Win or lose he ultimately has made this primary a race. Good for Clinton to earn it. Good for voters. Simply GREAT that he has shown us that a presidential campaign can be waged powered by people and modest donations.
