We live in the UNITED States, I believe,

not the SEPARATE States, I understand. That's why the people in every state get to vote in both Democratic and Republican primary elections. We're all part of one nation. Those who appear to believe that southern states are not equal to other states in the Democratic primaries are simply incorrect.

The number of delegates in each state is based on two things: 1. The population of the state. 2. How many members of Congress of the Democratic Party that state elects.

Nothing else matters. So, Vermont, for example, is allocated 16 pledged delegates to be selected proportionally to the vote of its Democrats. Mississippi, on the other hand, is allocated 36 pledged delegates to the Democratic National Convention. It would have more if it had more Democrats in elected office. It has a higher population than Vermont. It has more delegates, so it's more important in selecting the Democratic nominee. That's our system. Everyone counts.

Democratic voters have a right to participate in the selection of the Democrat who will run for the Presidency. That's because that President will make many decisions that affect them, regardless of what state they live in. Democrats are Democrats, wherever they live. None are better than others. They are all Democrats.

The President is the chief executive of the United States of America, not just the Democratic States of America.

That's my PSA for the day. Thanks for reading.

You make a good case for a national primary and the abolishment of the electoral college. Tierra_y_Libertad Mar 2016 #4

I'm being descriptive rather than prescriptive. I don't run things. I deal with what is. If things change, I'll adapt to how things become.

whether we don't have to count on a revival

of the old confederacy within a short time?

Sucks to be us. We're good Democrats, though. I wish our opinions mattered more to the DNC.
