Hillary Rodham Clinton - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times Blog
VALPARAISO, Ind. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton managed to co-opt Mr. Obamas message of hope and optimism, beginning a speech in Valparaiso, Ind., by talking about how positive and fundamentally optimistic Americans are.
We dont get bogged down and looking back were always looking forward, she said, as heavy applause nearly drowned out her words. Whatever obstacle we see, we get over it. Whatever challenge we have, we meet it. Were the problem-solvers, were the innovators, were the people who make the better future.
...snip...
I disagree with Senator Obamas assertion that people in our country cling to guns and have certain attitudes about immigration or trade simply out of frustration, she said.
She described herself as a pro-gun churchgoer, recalling that her father taught her how to shoot a gun when she was a young girl and said that her faith is the faith of my parents and my grandparents.
And from CNN
You know, some people now continue to teach their children and their grandchildren. Its part of culture. Its part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because its an important part of who they are. Not because they are bitter.
Minutes later, in a slightly awkward moment, Clinton faced a question from a woman in the audience whose son had been paralyzed by a gunshot. The woman asked Clinton what she would do about gun control as president.
Clinton touted her husband's record on gun control during his administration, and said "there is not a contradiction between protecting Second Amendment rights" and the effort to reduce crime....

(58,785 posts)1. Strengthen background checks and close dangerous loopholes in the current system.
2. Hold irresponsible dealers and manufacturers accountable.
3. Keep guns out of the hands of terrorists, domestic abusers, other violent criminals, and the severely mentally ill.
I dont know how we keep seeing shooting after shooting, read about the people murdered because they went to Bible study or they went to the movies or they were just doing their job, and not finally say weve got to do something about this.
While gun ownership is part of the fabric of many law-abiding communities, too many families in America have suffered from gun violence. About 33,000 Americans are killed by guns each year. That is unacceptable. It is a rebuke to this nation we love.
Thats why Hillary supports sensible action to address gun violence, including comprehensive background checks, cracking down on illegal gun traffickers, holding dealers and manufacturers accountable when they endanger Americans, and keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and stalkers.

(29,798 posts)That is what everyone wants to know. I read a report that she just had a fund raiser with the NRA, can you provide any details on what the NRA is doing providing direct funding for Hillary's campaign?
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)ask why the NRA is giving money to an enemy? These people aren't simple minded. They are working deep, long-established strategies that were developed centuries before any of us came along. Heck, they were undoubtedly ancient in the days of Alexander the Great.
Why are the NRA and Wall Street donating to someone who has been an enemy even as they donate far more to the other side to defeat her?
Don't be simple minded. Think.

(29,798 posts)Let's make a slight edit for clarity;
"how come you guys don't ask why the NRA is giving money to a supposed enemy?"
That's the question I asked you. Do you have an answer?
