2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHRC can forever be summed up by Anderson Cooper's question: "Will you say anything to get elected?"
The question answers itself.

Anderson Cooper:
You were against same-sex marriage. Now you're for it. You defended President Obama's immigration policies. Now you say they're too harsh. You supported his trade deal dozen of times. You even called it the "gold standard". Now, suddenly, last week, you're against it.
Will you say anything to get elected?

(7,299 posts)When Sanders was asked how he would get his tens of trillions of dollars worth of spending through Congress, Sanders went on an unhinged tirade about how the Congress represents the establishment bought and paid for by corporations. Does the guy think he's running to be King ?

With Hillary not so because progressive voters will stay home..
"Does this guy think he's king" No
But Hillary sure as hell thinks she is Queen..Its her turn, she is the anointed one and she has had this frame of mind for 30 years.
Hillary is a corporatist always has been always will be.
What makes you so sure Hillary will get anything past the Republicans?
Because Hillary being a part of the establishment thinks she will help the Republicans advance their agenda and then bragg about it sayin she knows how to "get things doane" that will be her tactic.
The TPP,the Keystone, more give-aways for big banks and the list goes on..that's whet I would expect with hillary

(1,150 posts)actually posing real questions to politicians, even..., I know it's hard for us to imagine, but, really - even to the point of criticizing them sometimes. How could government even work that way?
Thankfully modern journalists clearly identify the political agendas their bosses are paying them to advance, so that politicians never have to face hard questions from a journalist with, like, sneaky, underhanded questions that aren't even divulged in advance.
Our journalists are world champions at appearing deeply saddened by a tragic death of a child and instantly shifting to cheerful amusement while describing a cute thing some puppy did. No one turns their heads and looks deeply into various cameras in their studios to simulate a perspective shift like they do. And, of course, they're the best looking journalists in the world, bar none.
We're much more civilized now.

(2,872 posts)holy shit he summed up what a series of link-surfing on google or a few image macros could tell you and posed it in a question-- y'know, what journalists USED to do before they started getting bought out to lob soft questions.

(14,157 posts)and we have another thread saying the media is in the tank for Clinton. Anderson Cooper is the poster boy for the main stream media.
Funny how Sanders surrogates can't keep their negative attacks straight.

(73,537 posts)While I disagree with you on this, I appreciate that you took the time to explain. It was in line with the level of decency that I have long associated with your contributions on DU.
As a Bernie Sanders supporter, I think it's fair and accurate to say that much of the media seems to favor Hillary. I was okay when the media favored Obama in 2008, so I don't complain too much about it now. But it is definitely there.
That one journalist asked Hillary one question that was definitely tough, that does not change the overall tone in the media. One of the journalists from CNN asked a couple serious questions last night. Again, they are in the minority.
I'd note that Cooper's question was one that should be troubling to all of us -- no matter if we support Hillary or Bernie -- especially if she is our party's nominee. She definitely has high negatives, and a lot of that is rooted in "trust" issues. We can't afford to pretend they are only the doings of a right-wing conspiracy, or dismiss them as the sour grapes of progressives.
Just my opinion. Again, I thank you for answering my question.
Peace,
Pat

(1,021 posts)Announcer: "Its whats wrong with politics today. Hillary Clinton will say anything to get elected. Now shes making false attacks on Barack Obama.
"The Washington Post says Clinton isnt telling the truth. Obama 'did not say that he liked the ideas of Republicans.' In fact, Obamas led the fight to raise the minimum wage, close corporate tax loopholes and cut taxes for the middle class.
"But it was Hillary Clinton, in an interview with Tom Brokaw, who quote 'paid tribute' to Ronald Reagans economic and foreign policy. She championed NAFTA - even though it has cost South Carolina thousands of jobs. And worst of all, it was Hillary Clinton who voted for George Bushs war in Iraq.
"Hillary Clinton. Shell say anything, and change nothing. Its time to turn the page. Paid for by Obama for America."
