Hillary backs Strickland for Senate, with an A+ rating from NRA & voted against assault weapons ban

Hillary Clinton supports Ted Strickland in the Ohio Senate primary.

Strickland has an A+ rating from NRA and voted against the assault weapons ban.

Must not be such an important issue for her after all. Or maybe some hypocrisy.

CLEVELAND — Hillary Clinton all but endorsed Ted Strickland, the former Ohio governor running for Senate, opening her first rally in the crucial swing state here Thursday morning by encouraging supporters to “help Ted get elected to the United States Senate.”

“I’m personally delighted to be here with my friend, and your governor, Ted Strickland,” she said. “Nobody cares more deeply and profoundly about what happens to people. He did a great job as your governor, and he will be an important voice in the Senate.”

She takes both sides of an argument if there are only 2 sides.
She takes every side if there are more sides of an argument.

So, while she may appear to be serious, I can't take anything she says seriously at all.

Only counts against Bernie, doncha know!
And it must be frustrating as fuck that Bernie's supporters are not one-issue supporters.

Hey, you should have seen the hug Patrick Murphy got, down here in Florida. Switched to Dem in 2012, so he could run against another Republican. Voted/votes with the GOP a lot, voted yes on the Benghazi panel.
Evidently he is Debbie DINO's BFF, and Hillary loves him too.

http://postonpolitics.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2015/10/05/despite-benghazi-vote-hillary-clinton-so-proud-of-patrick-murphy/

Rep. Alan Grayson accused his Democratic Senate primary rival, Rep. Patrick Murphy, of aiding and abetting a Republican “witch hunt” of Hillary Clinton by voting last year to create a House select committee to investigate the 2012 Benghazi attacks.

But Clinton, known for her long memory of political slights, didn’t seem to hold Murphy’s vote against him. When Murphy attended a fundraiser for Clinton in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, the Democratic presidential front-runner recognized Murphy and told donors she is “so proud of him.”

Because - he is a perfect specimen of a Third Way DINO. That's what I am supposed to support, to vote for? Nope.

He's a pro-union-busting fiscally-conservative Democrat who just balanced the state budget on the back of state-employee layoffs, cuts to hospital funding, tax-increases across the board (with a middle-class carve-out...the majority of the increases are borne by the poor and the very-wealthy), additional taxes on small businesses and independent contractors, and social service cuts.

He's like the Scott Walker of Democrats.

But yes, he's also a big recipient of corporate donations, going back to his days as the Mayor of Stamford.

Strickland is the former governor and a very close Clinton ally. He supported her vs. Obama in 2008.

The other Senate candidate is younger and a newcomer, and is much more progressive across the whole range of issues.

Mon Mar 14, 2016, 03:19 AM
Mar 2016

He mentions her name, and has a plan that mirrors hers (supposedly):

PG's plan consists of three parts.

First, he will fight to close the various loopholes that now exist in our background check system—not just the gun show and internet loopholes, but also the so-called "Charleston loophole" that allows purchasers to buy guns with incomplete background checks.

Second, PG believes we must hold gun dealers and manufacturers accountable by revoking the licenses of dealers who have a history of selling to criminals and mandating that manufacturers include child safety locks on handguns to avoid accidental shootings.

Finally, PG believes, as former President Reagan did, that military assault weapons—which are designed for war-time combat—have no place on the streets of our cities. And while he is working to pass legislation that will ban these guns, he will also fight to keep firearms out of the hands of domestic abusers, as well as those with severe mental illness.

The establishment looks after its own, to hell with everyone else.

Candidate Clinton's energies are largely expended on acquiring wealth. We've had enough of that.

I am, of course, mainly referring to the millions of dollars she has collected for making what must be some "amazing speeches". The fact that she is opening plying "her trade" growing her wealth shows the extent of the large numbers of other politicians are doing the exact same thing, grabbing the money.
It has become a norm in politics everywhere. Americans seem to expect that from politicians.

I'd like to talk for a second about what I am going to term "Paper Democrats"--those candidates running for office as Democrats, may even hold a majority of Democratic positions, but whose differences, where there are differences, from the platform of the party will actually work to prevent us from achieving anything with a small majority and may even be more harmful to the Democratic party than their losses would be. They're Democrats on paper whose actual positions are a great deal more complicated on priority items on the Democratic agenda; they're likely to fold in any close vote and prevent us from achieving the major policy positions that get Democrats elected elsewhere.

This is not a simple issue of run the candidate that can win everywhere. Those losses have ramifications elsewhere in the nation for other Democrats in elections. As an example, I'll talk about my own Congressional representative...my friend, Elizabeth Esty, whose campaign I am donating both time and money to. The most vulnerable Congressional seat here in CT (CT-5) is vulnerable specifically because the Democratic office-holder (Beth Esty) of that seat (which represents Newtown, CT among other CT towns) promised her constituents she would fight for far more comprehensive gun-control nationally. The fact that she failed because of people like Joe Manchin and may continue to fail because of people like Ken Strickland...may cost us what should be a safe Democratic House seat...it's being used by conservative PACs to astroturf and false-flag against her in a state that strongly supports even stronger gun-control nationally than its current strongest-in-the-nation gun-control.

Ideally, I'd like a Congressional majority devoid of Paper Democrats. Minimally, I'd like to not run them anywhere we can win with a more-staunch Democrat. Ohio's Senate seat is one of those places. Strickland is, to me, an unnecessary evil, much like Patrick Murphy running in the primary against Alan Grayson and also endorsed by Clinton, until a few years ago Murphy was a Republican and moved only slightly leftward to gain a nomination--in all but name, he remains Republican.
