2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSomething interesting just showed up on Sanders' map...
GOTV centers. All over the state of Ohio. Added just within the past hour or two.
http://map.berniesanders.com
To me, it says they feel pretty confident about MO and IL, and that they feel they can take OH if they get their people out to vote.
If Clinton's ground game is the same one I saw in Michigan last week (i.e. non-existent), she has no chance to rival Sanders' GOTV effort.
What do you all make of this?

It's the most callous thing I've seen here in quite a while that the first reply in this thread we're posting in now was hidden. Read the poison blood post I linked and then tell me that their feelings aren't justified and shouldn't be given a lot of empathetic leeway today, and for however long it takes to come.
Besides which, they posted the truth. There's no legitimate reason the truth should be hidden here.

(50,986 posts)the two candidates' ground games but would just say that in recent days Trump has taken to blaming Bernie Sanders for sending protestors to his (Trump's) rallies.
Donald Trump is dead wrong on a great many things. This is one of them.

(39,909 posts)..attempted to get me to go to a Trump Rally, that would cause me to withdraw my support for him.
I believe he has way too much integrity to do something that perverted.
Low level campaign volunteers might take it on their own to do this,
but they are risking life and limb to do so, and for what benefit to the Sanders Campaign?
If anything these are either normal protesters who have made the decision to do this themselves, or a Trump False Flag scam.
After all, he IS a showman, con man, and provocateur who needs targets to blame for our country's problems.

(24,010 posts)Students there and other Chicagoans were outraged. I read one poster here who said she'd been hearing local people talk about it on the radio all week before that protest, gathering steam to go there and voice their objections. It had nothing to do with the Sanders campaign, according to her, and everything to do with local pride and a desire to oppose racism. Some Sanders supporters were there but there are millions of Sanders supporters and some of them would naturally wish to join an anti-racist action.
Because of this report about local radio stations (and also some interviews of protestors), I think the false flag idea is probably not true. You never know with Trump, but I think this one was genuine outrage that he would dare to do this in their community and on their campus.
I would suspect, too, that, being young, they didn't think it through very well, as to Trump supporters' retaliation or their own safety. (Lord, the things that my son did when he was that age, without heed to his own safety, were hair-raising. And I was oblivious to mortality myself at that age!)
I wonder why no one has mentioned the university authorities who permitted a Trump rally on campus. Perhaps their hands were tied by free speech rules. If you ban Trump, you'd have to ban everybody else. Thus, liberals get trapped by their own ideals when nazis come crawling out of the woodwork. It's a dilemma, for sure. And the kids just cut right through it all and voiced their objections and took the risks to do that. Crazy courage.

Bernardo de La Paz
(49,058 posts)He pushed the "commie" button and attempted to fabricate a link of violence to Sanders.
But Trump is not a seasoned pro at this kind of thing (doesn't have much of a ground game, I think). He's an entertainer who has tapped into a dangerous vein of anger and racism. I am sure that he is not a thinker and thus doesn't introspect much, so I am sure that he is not fully aware of what he is doing or how dangerous it is. Or he thinks he can control it.
But eventually, if enough people allow it to get far enough (by voting or not voting), it will control him, in the sense that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I didn't see any of the candidate specific posts, so I'm not sure if they were removed or bounced to lower than my nosiness cared to scroll.

(10,493 posts)He applied for the space. Faculty and students appealed to the dean to withdraw his request, in good old Chicago style - they mobilized fast. There was no hiding were it stemmed from. They had a Facebook page that was public for everyone to read. Community members rallied in support. Local organizations at the center of trumps attack joined them, and they did it. Some protesters got in lines, some met on the street and other marched from the quad. It was on radio, tv - social media, everywhere for a week leading up to it. You literally had to be ignoring it, the. Refuse to read a news article that wasn't free republic or breitbart to not to know about it.

It's not a Bernie supporter or a Hillary supporter thing.
People are organizing on facebook and going. They were calling into our local liberal talk show telling everyone about the protest.
I'm not going - Az is an open carry state & there are a lot of white supremacists in this state.

(2,603 posts)I was texted, emailed and called today by the Bernie campaign. I have never had any candidate call me in my entire voting history.
I've seen nothing from Clinton here in SWFL. I've seen Bernie booths at flea markets, groups at major intersections cheering with signs etc, and people handing out bumper stickers on street corners.
Bernie has a serious ground game.

(8,133 posts)Sarasota kicks ass though!! I live in Naples where there's never much going on. We did have some people in wheelchairs and walkers protesting Cheney here though. (I was with them). The cops tried to arrest some 80 year old man who turned out to be a former admiral. The cops and Cheney people looked like total idiots trying to harrass people in walkers.
