US Uncut: In Tonite's Town Hall, Did Hillary Admit Her Iraq War Vote Was A Bribe?

Did Hillary Clinton Just Admit on LIVE TV That Her Iraq War Vote Was a Bribe? (VIDEO)

Tom Cahill | March 15, 2016

During tonight’s Democratic town hall on MSNBC, Hillary Clinton shockingly defended her vote for the Iraq War as a favor for President Bush helping New York after 9/11.

Around the 4-minute mark of the video below, Clinton admitted that she had “a different set of experiences” with George W. Bush than Sanders did, in response to Chris Matthews asking her why she was wrong on Iraq War while Sanders was right.

“I’m sitting there in the Oval Office, and Bush says to me, ‘What do you need?’ And I said, ‘I need $20 billion to rebuild, you know, New York,’ and he said, ‘You got it.’ And he was good to his word,” Clinton said in response to Matthews’ question on why Bernie Sanders was right on the Iraq War vote and Clinton was wrong.

“Literally, that same day, I get back to the Capitol, and the Republicans are trying to take that money away. We kept calling the White House, Bush kept saying, ‘I gave them my word, I’m going to stick with it.’ So, you know, I had a different set of experiences.”

Which is why she shouldn't be in the White House: I don't trust the characters she follows.

She was explaining that she trusted GWB on the Iraq War because he had stuck to his word on giving New York the $20 billion she had asked for to help rebuild after 9/11 even as others in his party were trying to take it away.

What I question is whether the story about Bush and 9/11 was bullshit. She was claiming that within a day or two after 9/11 that Republicans were determined to give no federal money to help rebuild New York City after the attack. I find that very hard to believe.

We can't be sure it's not a lie or an artful twist of the truth. She may have gotten something and used this story as a more altruistic cover, making both her and Bush look better.

Very Machiavellian if so.

Bush scratched her back, and that put her in debt to him later. New York should have had the money to rebuild, no strings, no questions.

How many people is she indebted to? How many favors need to be handed out to balance the books, or how many is she planning to give out to fill her rainy day fund?

She is so foully steeped in the politics of corruption and amorality that she doesn't even realize how odious that is.

It is nauseating.

There is no choice if you are a person who holds our political policies to the same standard of morality that we have (if we have standards of morality, that is).

(maybe it's my ad blockers?)

In fairness to Hillary, could it be that she trusted Bush on Iraq because he stuck to his word on New York funding? I.e., not that she voted that way to keep up her end of a bribe, but because she thought he was trustworthy?

(And having said that--that does kind of bring her judgment into question. But the main thing I'm saying is that it wasn't really a bribe kind of thing. Because trading human lives for money would be pretty horrible and I don't think that's what she actually did.)
