(99,710 posts)Sadly, she didn't get to live to vote for President Obama.
My memory is hazy but I believe we voted at the library in Lake Mary.

(2,679 posts)Which is Seminole county. Most Winter Park is Orange county so we are the odd balls. We are like Cassleberry without all the redneck broken trucks in our yards. My polling station is at the Elk's Lodge off of Howell Branch rd.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)I voted a couple of times at a polling station near the L A Fitness that used to be Levitz. I think that was the Elk's Lodge...
I am in L A now... The only things I don't miss about FL are the politics and the humidity but Orlando is a fairly progressive city.
kydo
(2,679 posts)So we were kind of neighbors once, cool The LA Fitness is still there.

(99,710 posts)And, of course, the Publix, the best run supermarket in the world.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)little corner of TN. We can't wait for a real store to finally open!
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)The only supermarket rated higher is Trader Joes but that is not a fair comparison as Trader Joes is more of a specialty store.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)of chains that I grew up with in Southern California, only better! Haven't been in a Trader Joes yet!
You know you are living a simple life when you get excited about a new grocery coming to town! ;P
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)Publix>>>>>>>Vons>>>>>> Ralphs.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)My sister worked as an accountant for Vons for a while before ditching us all and moving to Maui! She loved working there.

(99,710 posts)These stores just can't compare to Publix:

(31,170 posts)I'm pretty sure there were some in LA County, once upon a time.
I haven't been to a lot of those listed, but I've heard of most of them. ...I feel grocery deprived! Living where we do, we order a lot online these days. We are in a tourist town that caters to cabin renters when it comes to stocking their shelves, so it's simple stuff to grill, and basic uninteresting deli items, with little emphasis on the ethnic foods we love.

(2,679 posts)You don't know how spoiled grocery wise you are until you move to where there is no Publix.

(99,710 posts)We don't have any in L A.
Did you go to UCF?
kydo
(2,679 posts)I went to UF didn't graduate but I marched in the band for four years.
My son graduated from UCF in 2014 w/ degree in Music Preformance and Education. He is a music teacher and he even has a job at an elementary school.
UCF has gotten huge. Of course the joke is it stands for either "U Can't Finish," or "U Can't Fail."
Do you go there?
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)kydo
(2,679 posts)I love UF but it's campus is so 70's modern blah... UCF is at least no longer in little buildings, lots of construction over there. But FSU's campus is just awesome.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)I used to go back to UCF for sporting events.

(2,679 posts)In an odd way how I voted isn't that important. It's voting that is important. Voting is when we do get our voice heard. So it is very important to vote.
Lizzie Poppet
(10,164 posts)Bigger turnout = a "louder" voice of the people.
kydo
(2,679 posts)Big turn outs make me happy. IMHO we shouldn't be putting up barriers to keep people from voting. We should be making it easier for people to vote.

kydo
(2,679 posts)See in the primary I don't early vote. In the GE I will early vote this way I will be free to help who ever the dem nominee is. Last election I canvased for Obama. I plan on doing the same for hopefully Hillary this election. But unlike that sour poster I will also canvas for Bernie if he ends up being the nominee. So even if that poster doesn't have my back I still have theirs. And there isn't a damn thing they can do about it! Ha! I win. I like winning.
