Polk County FL, Winter Haven, couldn't find Democratic ballots.

POLK COUNTY

11:30 a.m.

A precinct in Winter Haven had a problem this morning when a poll worker couldn't find the Democratic primary ballots.

When the worker opened the polling place, she only handed out the Republican ballots and told Democrats they couldn't get a ballot.

Voters called the Supervisor of Elections office, which told the poll worker where to find the ballots.

Supervisor Lori Edwards says only three voters were affected and all three voted.

Edwards is expecting a voter turnout of 45 percent.

Gee, you'd think they would check before the polls opened.

to make sure ballots aren't tampered with. And everything has to be witnessed.

Anyway, glad they were able to take care of it.

I just meant that maybe she couldn't open the bag with the ballots before the polls opened.

are things that should never happen.

When I vote early here in Santa Fe, the ballot for me is printed up on the spot. What a novel concept. No worry about printing up enough ahead of time, or the waste if there are a lot of leftovers. Just print up the ones needed as needed.

I want to add that I early vote and the site is going to be printing up ballots for people from all over the county, and there will be different local offices to be voted on, depending on your address, city council district, or state senate district, and various other things.

But I can't think of why the ballots can't be printed up at the polling places all the time.
