Well, the headline is perhaps a bit exaggerated- I tend not to count my chicks till hatched.

................... .........Overall, the results suggest that Sanders surprise victory last week in Michigan was an anomaly, rather than the first domino in a series of friendly Midwest contests that would make him a major threat to Clinton...........................
After her clean sweep of the South--by blow out margins--Clinton added hundreds more delegates making her already healthy total 1,561 (including super delegates) as she marches toward the necessary 2,383 to win. Now, its almost mathematically impossible for Sanders to catch up.
With one of the biggest nights of her campaign behind her, Clinton delivered a stirring victory speech in Florida where she tipped her hat to Sanders for his vigorous campaigning but quickly pivoted to GOP frontrunner Donald Trump and the bruising general election campaign that awaits the two of them.
.................. But she stepped up her attacks in nationally televised appearances, and picked up the tempo last night.
.................
We live in a complex and yes a dangerous world, she said. Protecting Americas national security can never be an afterthought. Our commander in chief has to be able to defend our country, not embarrass it; engage our allies, not alienate them; defeat our adversaries, not embolden them.
She cited Trumps most controversial promises...........................
When he embraces torture, that doesnt make him strong, it makes him wrong, she said. You know, to be great, we cant be small. We cant lose what made America great in the first place, Clinton added.
..............................
Sanders now faces the reality of becoming nothing more than a messaging candidate, using his bid to keep the spotlight on the bread-and-butter issues that have been the hallmark of his dark horse candidacy.
.......................
Sanders spoke for an hour, without mentioning the night's election results.
.......................
Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) was of huge importance to Clintons victory in the Buckeye State and serves as one of her most important bridges to the liberal wing of the party.
....................And perhaps most tellingly, 81 percent of those looking for a candidate who can win in November chose Clinton...............

I feel as sure as I can be that Bernie's appeal would be far broader if he canned the revolution stuff and spoke of erbuilding a great America in a way that still differentiated him from Hillary's similar goals, but then that's just not him, not radical enough.

Anyway, although Bernie almost certainly is not going to win, the plains and western states will be friendlier ground. Hillary mostly just has to hang in there to win, but what majorities she gets are likely to be by smaller margins, so this will probably crawl on for a while.

(7,723 posts)but your claimed it was only in his head, when his support shows otherwise.
firebrand80
(2,760 posts)It's a primary contest, one that he's losing. There is no revolution, other than the one he thinks is happening. All the while, turnout is DOWN compared to '08.
Fast Walker 52
(7,723 posts)indicates that there is a deep yearning for a more progressive candidate and the revolution wasn't just in Bernie's head.
firebrand80
(2,760 posts)or even increase turnout over the last primary, then his support may be strong, but they're aren't enough people on board to call it a "revolution"

(21 posts)I've been trying to figure out her plan from day one, but other than vague nonsense about "getting things done" and having "more robust plans" than Bernie Sanders, I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is.
Help me out, Hillary people? I see more war, more trade deals, fewer decent jobs, and a cabinet filled up with Goldman Sachs vipers.
In other words, the status quo. Honestly, what do you expect her to do that makes her such a better choice than Bernie Sanders?

(135,425 posts)your information from "Hillary supporters?" The information you seek has ALWAYS been available to you. The only reason you aren't up to speed is ... YOU. You can "help yourself" with a click of your mouse or built in pointing device!
I don't rely on Sanders supporters to explain his views to me. I do what a sensible person does--I go to his web pages. Cut out the middleman! Get the material straight from the source! Love the 21st Century in this regard--so much better than trudging to the library!
Here--I googled it for you....here it ALL is, in one convenient location. I will advise you of this, though--you will not absorb the information if you do not take the time to READ it:

(21 posts)My question is, what do her supporter's expect her to do?
Yes, I've read her proposals and honesty, it looks like she was peeking over Bernie Sanders' shoulder during exam week.
I also know her history and her voting record. Have you all just pretended it doesn't matter? Do you expect the multi-million dollar recipient of Goldman Sachs' largesse to again, as she says, tell them to "cut it out"? Do you expect Kissinger's protege, and the Bush-Cheney cheerleader of the Iraq War to keep us from further disastrous adventures overseas? Do you really think that the one who called the TPP the "gold standard" of trade deals, the supporter of NAFTA, honestly had a change of heart? Do you think that the politician who voted for BAPCPA after telling Elizabeth Warren how horrible it was can be trusted for any of these things on her list?
Seriously, I want to know. Like most politically aware people, yourself included, I pay attention to what's going on around me. What have I seen? Sanders' people say, he wants universal healthcare, he wants money out of politics, he wants to make public colleges free for all. The list goes on and on.
Maybe it's just confirmation bias, but do you know what I hear most Hillary's supporters say? She's winning. End of story.
So please, illuminate my lazy ass. What makes her the better candidate? I ask her supporters as I want to know what they honestly expect from another Clinton presidency, not just how she's kicking ass in the primaries.

(3,190 posts)People are scared to death of Trump, especially after the violence at his campaign stops over the last few days.
Last night many who may have normally given Bernie their vote, voted Clinton because they think (wrongly) that she is the safe choice to beat Trump.
Trump is doing Hillary some huge favors.
SmittynMo
(3,544 posts)Really? Every poll I've seen chose Bernie over HRC to beat Trump. In some cases, it was double digits for Sanders over Trump.
So, in essence, the oligarchy and big money win again, which only confirms a corrupt political system.
I can also guarantee that many dems will not vote if she wins in the primaries. People are really fed up with SOS politics.
This alone, and the fact that GOP voting has been up, should give it to Trump.
I'm going to go back to this thread in 8 months, to see how accurate I was.
Then I'm moving, as I don't think I could do 4 years of Trump.

I'll tell you what it means to me. I'm part of the "liberal wing" of the party and I'd like representation, not just a bridge, thank you kindly. Who do you think Hillary is going to work for if she wins?
Us? Not likely.

Granted, Trump has his own problems, but he's turning into a good politician and can really hurt Hillary.
Bernie can counter Trump much more effectively on policy.

(21 posts)Trump has no experience in governance, and is a serial liar. Hillary has a lot of experience in governance and is also a serial liar. Trumps supporters don't care. Democrats and independents will.
You can easily imagine how the debates will go. When Trump asks her directly about those Bosnian snipers and the Reagans starting the conversation about HIV/AIDS, among other things, you can expect to hear the word, "misspoke" in a lot of the answers.
He'll gain strength, she'll look foolish. But hey, it's her turn, right?
