'Hillary will never survive the Trump onslaught .... the shitstorm coming from Trump"

March 14,2016

Hillary will never survive the Trump onslaught: It’s not fair, but it makes her a weak nominee
Clinton backers who tout their "realism" need to get real about how she'll handle the shitstorm coming from Trump
by Steve Almond

Alas, the reality is that Hillary is among the most hated politicians in America. There is, to begin with, her dismal favorability rating, which stands at 53 percent, with a net negative of 12 percent. (Sanders has a net positive of 12 percent.)

But even more important is the intensity of the animus against her, and the sad mountain of baggage she carries with her as a candidate.

No matter who the GOP nominee is, the battle plan against Hillary will be the same: a tawdry and unrelenting relitigation of all the phony scandals cooked up by the “vast, right-wing conspiracy” that she identified nearly two decades ago.

Cue up the Pearl Jam, folks, because we’re going all the way back to the ’90s: Whitewater, Travelgate, Troopergate, Lewinskygate, with a little Vince Foster Murdergate, for a dash of blood. But wait—those are just the golden oldies! You’ll also be hearing about the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Pardons. Of course, what respectable slander campaign would be complete without the new material? Benghazi, the private email server, the Wall Street speeches?

The dark corporate money and talented propagandists aligned against Hillary will make the Swift Boat Veterans look like toy soldiers.
And because our Fourth Estate is driven at this point almost entirely by the desperate promotion of scandal narratives and conflict, every one of these paid attacks will be amplified by so-called free media, or what us starry-eyed hippies used to call journalism.

If you are unable to dispute or challenge any of the points in the article why are you bothering to post here?

Personal attacks and slanders of the kind you just made have no place in a democratic debate and discussion.

Let's face it, Hillary isn't great at campaigning. But if Hillary is the nominee, Obama will destroy Trump, once and for all.

Edited to add: let's not pretend that Trump wouldn't destroy Bernie, but the difference is, Bernie doesn't have any skilled friends to defend him.

He defeated Cruz, the Senator that no one likes. He defeated the weak-kneed Rubio. He defeated the bleary-eyed Carson. Kaisch he didn't even need to do much simply because no one voted for him.

I think judging Trump on his record of past victories tells us nothing about him that we didn't already know: he's a blowhard and blowhards fall hard.

39. Regarding Salon:
Sat Mar 19, 2016, 09:30 PM
Mar 2016

There is a lady by the name of Joan Walsh (from Salon) who regularly appears on Rachael's show with MSNBC as a panel guest. I have absolutely enjoyed her fair contribution of all things DEMOCRATIC over the years. I have noticed that lately (past couple months) that she has shown an obvious preference to Hillary regarding our primary (good or bad makes no difference for this post). I'm only sharing this to present the fact that you cannot dismiss SALON broadly without acknowledging that she is also included in such a generic and sweeping indictment. (Salon and Joan as an example only)

This thread is a wonderful example of what gets covered over by the broad brush approach. Our primary is full of nuance, divisiveness, conflicting opinion and preference...as well it should be. I've been actively supporting Democrats since the 70's.

Just to switch gears, I am particularly troubled (and very worried) with this whole primary season up til now. BOTH Dem primary candidates, albeit important for the nomination, right now is a secondary concern (to me) as it relates to the GE. We will have a nominee.

Here is my concern. Has anyone taken notice of individual primary/caucus turnout numbers for DEM versus GOP? Our party is getting our collective asses kicked by a considerably larger GOP turnout in almost every individual state so far. Don't believe me? Check out the numbers for yourself...please. I will not include the links I've used...as I have no desire to be caught in candidate crossfire.

I submit this larger repub turnout is mostly because of the intense visceral and unrestrained hatred of all things Obama. It has been this way from the beginning of Obama's 1st term and will continue until the end of his 2nd term. No big surprise huh?...

That being said, I feel that Trump embodies everything I disdain, but what truly scares the hell out of me is the possibility that Ted Cruz could be the one who "rescues" the GOP from Trump...brokered convention or not.

So lets keeping pissing on each other and continue to assume we've got the GE in the bag (sarcasm). I personally do not want a repeat of the Bush legacy and absolutely loathe the idea that it could turn out worse. I remember vividly how we all could not believe Bush was not only elected, but re-elected for a 2nd term. I hope we don't have to apologize for America to the rest of the world...again.

Peace
