I'm resigned to the fact Clinton will be given the party nomination but
Sen. Sanders needs to stay in as long as the rules permit.
We need to have a long and serious debate about what it means to be a Democrat.

1. Is it really so damn hard for some Sanders supporters to just admit that Clinton
is winning both the popular vote and the delegate count? She isn't being given the nomination. She's winning it because more people are voting for her in the primaries. This is not complicated.
Saying that she's being given the nomination is on par with Republicans deciding to call the Democratic party the Democrat party. It's petty silliness that should go away. |

16. +1
And today, the Democratic Party is what FDR fought against~ “The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.”

66. I'm going to disagree with you on that.
First, the narrative of no air time is, I think, somewhat disingenuous. With all the debates, town halls, one on one interviews, etc., he's been on a lot.
But I've come to a different conclusion as I more I see of Sanders. He was a guy I genuinely liked and enjoyed listening to on Thom Hartmann over the years (and speaking of air time, Bernie had the gig on Thom Hartmann for a very long time). But the more I get to know Bernie Sanders, the less I see him as someone who is well rounded and has the ability to bring people together. He may have broadened out his speech to include a little foreign policy and a few other things here and there, but overall, he's a one or two issue guy. When you research his record, you learn that he is stubborn and has a serious inability to compromise, even on things like an Amber Alert bill. I don't like his record on guns and domestic violence has claimed many thousands more lives in the United States - tens of thousands more, actually, than have occurred in foreign wars (yes, I'm only counting American lives here, yes all lives matter). I think the more I see of Sanders, the less I think he is running for the right job. I still don't dislike him and of course I'd vote for him, but the more I see of him, the more I feel that he's not a well-qualified candidate. |

95. Your opinion is as good as mine...we can agree to disagree.
But we will never know for sure, because he hasn't had the airtime. It made me furious on March 15 when every candidate but Bernie got air time for their speeches. And honestly, I would say this if it were anyone else. We don't need the media to choose our candidates for us. I remember back in 2000, the media didn't like Al Gore, they liked W. That turned out great for us, didn't it?

61. Let me count the ways it's rigged
nearly no media coverage for Bernie
Suppressed vote at the caucuses - Arizona was blatant but so were other states. Clinton people in Caucases blatantly miscounting votes - I've seen several videos taken in the caucuses of them miscounting and mis reporting the votes. Ie someone tells them the number and they repeat it right back wrong. Clinton foundation infiltrating Bernie camp and cancelling events - I'll get the link DNC being partisan and the ones holding the election - meaning their leader is way pro Hillary DNC being bought out by the same people who bought and paid for Hillary - again no reason to trust them running an election. now let me go get that link of the infiltration... |

68. With the help of voter suppression, underhanded infiltration in to Bernie Caucas
re-writing her own history and a whole lot of pandering to minorities while knowing she was supporting the opposite of what she was saying and always had been. IE. She had the GEO group - private prison lobby in her super pac while saying she would stop blacks from going to prison so often(that lobby tries to pass bills to get people put in prison more often and for longer). She also said nobody would be tougher than her on climate change while supporting the Keystone XL and Fracking(destroying precious ground water in a time when we are going into massive drinking water insecurity.) She even went to Flint and told them all people deserve clean water. Google Hillary Clinton and fracking and see her in her own words doing speeches all over the world promoting fracking. She also said she was always for Civil Rights even though she was a Goldwater girl and voted against them in the 60's, and voted against gays in the 90's, and even called blacks super predators in a bill to get them locked up longer in the 90's. That, got the black vote this year. Nothing dishonest there?

67. Right, but here's the thing
I look honestly at the material. I don't discredit the messenger. Not every source on negative information about her is right-wing anyway.
Like the emails. Perhaps some right-wing source also posted one of the more recent issues with her emails - such as the coincidental timing of donations to the Clinton Foundation and arms deals. So I go and read the emails themselves, at least the ones that are publicly available. Or the mishandling of classified information. I held a top secret clearance for years. I know for a fact that there are people currently in jail for lesser crimes. I know there is an investigation going on that is serious. I don't see how dismissing it out of hand helps discussion of the reality of the situation. The FBI is not some right-wing site. This is what perplexes me. |

18. But Bernie is not a Democrat
Hillary has earned her delegates. Bernie is suing the DNC-he's no Democrat. He won't be dictating to me on how to be a Democrat.

64. Oh I'm sure many will vote for democratic nominees
but they'll just leave the spot beside Hillary's name blank if she's the presidential nominee. Can't forget those down-ticket races...

What it means to be a Democrat sound a little authoritarian.

The foot stomping and temper tantrums after AZ (and every other state HRC has won) have not had the desired impact, apparently. And by desired impact I mean the results invalidated and the delegates given to Bernie cuz Oligarchs-DNC-Turd Way-DWS-Wall Street!1!11111!

Phone bank and inform people that they need to check their affiliation on their voter registration.

on their voter registration where they have closed primaries. Both Hillary and Bernie supporters.

33. He only just joined the Party
Yet he gets to decide "what it means to be a Democrat?" You know he is running for his Senate seat again as an Independent, right?
I guess all the rest of us "Democrats" aren't really. We are just a diverse, inclusive bunch of wannabes who want equal rights for all people, to deal with the climate crisis, to help each other do better and have what we need to thrive, to build on progress, and to tear down patriarchal boundaries that oppress women in every neighborhood. Oh well. |

44. People don't realize that.
In addition, this is the first and probably last time that Bernie Sanders will be an automatic delegate to the Democratic National Convention. He was not a delegate to either the 2008 or 2012 conventions.
Has he really joined the Democratic Party? |

40. There is no such thing as given.
Unless Hillary falters along the way she would have earned it against tough competition.
Whether the rules permit. There are no rules that apply on whether Sanders can remain. He stays in until he decides. His choice. Not the DNC at this point. Not Hillary supporters. Bernie supporters might have some say but the ultimate decision is entirely Sanders. |

50. With more than half the delegates still to be awarded,
and given that Bernie did get a few more than Hillary this past Tuesday -- although you'd never know it even here on DU, let alone the Main Stream Media -- it's far too early to concede the nomination to Hillary. Far too early.
