(8,760 posts)Why is Bernie able to completely blow out Hillary in three such different states?
Why can't she compete at all in those states?
Maybe a candidate needs something more than fundraisers with the one percent.

(10,622 posts)Since hundreds have declared already that they will vote for her, even if the States they represent, vote for Bernie Sanders (as Dr Dean has already admitted is the plan), this along with voter suppression and party affiliate switching without the voter's knowledge in closed primaries, will assure she can win the primary without question.
What she fails to consider is that, these tactics plus an already unenthusiastic voting base will depress her vote so much more and harm the party itself so much that the Pyrrhic Primary win will help her lose a General Election, she would likely have lost anyway.

(10,622 posts)Only concerned about large money donations and their personal wealth, ethics and the very law be damned; have already shrunk the part to 30% of the population, after this primary (that I am certain now they WILL steal). It would destroy the party.
Not to mention handing the GE to the Republicans.

(11,945 posts)No consideration whatsoever for the process of democracy, no respect for the American people.
Just want to force it through on technicalities, "irregularities," string pulling, rule bending.
Artificial and grotesque.

I suppose that you also feel that Hawaiian natives are not "real" people either, do you by chance attend many Trump rallies?

No wonder polls show universal distrust of that candidate.

(12,232 posts)While I was waiting for the bus, a neighbor came by walking her dog and we talked about the caucus and bus routes. Let her know easiest way to transfer and get to the caucus. She is a Hillary supporter and I am for Bernie.
There was a huge line and people talked while waiting. I noticed quite a few couples were split in support. Neighbors were campaigning for their candidates with each other, but it done in a neighborly way. And this is in Seattle, so an urban location where we don't know all our neighbors.
Once inside and seated in our precincts, district volunteers reminded us to be respectful of each others views and that we were all there working together to win against the Republicans. People cheered.
My precinct had extra large attendance so we were moved to a hallway. Our precinct leader volunteer was a no-show, so a district leader asked for volunteers and a vote for them. He stressed it would be best to have 2 leaders (one Sanders supporter and one Clinton supporter) and the same for the tally volunteers. We voted on these and they led well and tallied accurately. While they read their packets of info, I went to the front and a woman wearing a Hillary sticker helped me find coffee (I had a Bernie sticker on, volunteers from both had been offering these while we we in line). I got some for me and my neighbor, since we both had been talking about wanting more coffee - hey, Seattle
We only had a few uncommitted.
People were asked if they wanted to speak and some did. They were passionate, well-informed, and made their points clearly. There was also question time allotted, all very fairly and equitable done. People could change at this point if they wanted to. There wasn't much change, only the uncommitted who I think went from 3 uncommitted to 2-1 for Hillary.
We then split into respective groups, with a much larger one for Bernie, and chose delegates and alternates. Again, people volunteered for this and were each given time to speak and we then voted for our choices. Dates they would need to participate in future were noted and the importance of attending the next stage to represent us was stressed (again a good sign of people being informed and realizing the importance of the process).
Then onto platform issues and people could stay to participate or leave. It was a beautiful, sunny day.

That's as clean as a sweep can get. Bernie and you guys knocked a grand slam outta the park! THAT, was elegant! Let's hope Oregon and California do the same (and the states until then).

(11,605 posts)California is a primary, not a caucus, so it's a little different. But it is definitely his best chance that day. On the other hand, I read an article recently that was a bit discouraging. It said that Obama had support from a lot of the white liberals Bernie is winning, but also the black vote, and still could not win California. Bernie is obviously winning many white voters who did not vote for Obama, but Obama probably lost fewer white voters due to race in California than in most other states.

(11,945 posts)and they also need to know that neither Obama nor Warren are Clinton fans. They both know how dirty she campaigns -- he experienced it, she witnessed it -- and they both know how rightwing her politics are.
People need to know this and we need to help them know it.

(26,549 posts)Obama still had to overcome the "nobody will vote for a black man with a funny name" charge. That did not really fade away until little later in the primary.
Also, the "black vote" in CA is not that large - about 6.5% of the state is African American. Asian Americans are more than double that (14.4%), with Latinos at 38.6%.
You could win all of the "white" (38.5%) and "black" vote and still lose the state.
