Heck, you know that Bernie gesticulates when speaking; maybe he didn't want to worry about whacking his wife or staffer while speaking?

Absolutely unhinged, no better than that slime Brock.

(20,582 posts)I've been bruised, bones broken, 'humiliated' .... all those things. I have a sixth sense about the type of person who would even think about mistreating a partner - I've read everything here and hundreds of articles on him, watched countless videos, seen him interact with her many, many times; Sanders is the antithesis of what this fucking hit piece is trying so hard to make him out to be.
Complete, ugly propaganda bullshit.
Some have NO shame. Disappointing, to say the least, to see one here on board with it.
When race-baiting fails, go for the abuser line. From the 'nutty and slutty' asshole of all time. I really, really wonder if some just do not have a moral compass, period, or they're just so full of hate they're willing to completely ignore it.

(22,336 posts)But I have no context. Without knowing what discussions they'd had earlier about who should stand where, it doesn't mean anything IMO. He isn't as polished as Hillary, but OTOH she isn't always "on" either - like when she said Nancy Reagan was a anti-AIDS activist or something. I guess this seems pretty irrelevant to me.
I was afraid to respond because I'm worried you're going to get piled on. Please don't consider this a part of that. I don't think what he said in this short video clip is relevant to his ability to lead, and it isn't necessarily even disrespectful to his wife as we don't have context, but I don't think it's wrong to bring this here or ask the question.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)Anymore than Hillary barkinb has on hers. That was pretty funny.
I think candidates have to be self aware. It was strange. They need to plan ahead on how they will handle events.

(4,451 posts)You seem to ignore it. It is not smears, it's just how I see things for myself. You know, Clinton can be smeared day and night and even have "brick assaults" thrown at her here in DU and not get hid. I MENTION sanders " early writing" and y'all ban together in to silence me. If you do not think there is anything wrong with his early writings than why not TRANSPARENCY? Why are y'all so thin skinned on any criticism of Sanders? This is a race to the white house! Criticism is normal and should be welcomed. Full on attacks are different. That has to stop but that happens to Hillary not Sanders. Look at the threads. Look what we are faced with here everyday. Take a step back and look at the disadvantage we have here on DU. It's a turn off how y'all behave not just to me but apparently to the superdelagates as well. Did y'all see the Reuters piece about it today?

After all that Bill Clinton put Hillary through - from when he was governor to when he was President, I would think that Clinton allies would be smart enough not to have gone there. Bill Clinton himself spoke of bringing pain to his marriage. I would assume that there was sufficient joy and love that kept them together.

(59,504 posts)tell me, do you believe that Senator Sanders would intentionally hurt his wife? Or are the Clinton people - expanding on their Bernie interrupted Hillary (ignoring the gentleman did so ONLY as she was interrupting him) , that was followed up by the fact that he did not let Judy Woodruff cut off his answers.
Not satisfied with distorting Sanders on issues like racial justice, they are now going for the idea that he is misogynous.

(59,504 posts)The biggest question I have is not why you posted this, but how many times can Brock smear a good man before people question why Clinton coordinates - via a loophole -( they are just on the internet and thus not explicitly prohibited )before there is push back as to why she condones this.
In fact, the SBVT were LESS closely connected to the Bush team (legally and officially) than Clinton is to Brock. Oh, and your comment that justifies this because of negative stories on Bill -- I remember clearly -- when Laura Bush argued the SBVT were ok because her husband was unfairly attacked. I didn't buy it then and thought less of Laura ...and do not buy it now.

(47,803 posts)And what it looks like to me is that Sanders was giving a combination of victory speech and a stump speech.
In the traditional victory speech, the candidate speaks for ten minutes or so and the family stands on stage throughout. But in a stump speech, the candidate might go on for an hour, and is on stage alone.
Since his speech was a combination, it looked like Sanders wife and (daughter?) were up there in victory speech fashion, and weren't sure whether toi stay or leave the stage. Bernie was signalling that his stump speech (which went on for a long time) was about to start, and it was time for them to leave the stage.
Nothing more than that. He didn't shove her or snap at her. Just gave her a stage direction.

excerpt:
An Apology
NCRM published an inaccurate and unfair story today, and we apologize.
Sunday afternoon The New Civil Rights Movement published an article on Senator Bernie Sanders with a video showing him speaking to his wife, Dr. Jane Sanders, as the two were onstage. The article inaccurately described their interaction, and even incorrectly reported his words. The Senator appeared to say to Dr. Sanders, "Don't stand there," and we reported that as, "Don't stand next to me."
Worse, however, was the tone of the article. It described the Vermont Senator as a "cad," which we have no reason to believe is fair.
Even if we had gotten these important details correct, the question becomes, was this newsworthy? In an age where the media sometimes us, included breathlessly reports what seems like every comment that Donald Trump makes, and now, nearly every comment that Ted Cruz makes, one might say yes, but I do not.
This was not newsworthy, and that we suggested it was by publishing it did a disservice to our readers and to the Senator and his wife. For all this we apologize to our readers and to Senator and Mrs. Sanders. We were wrong. Our readers, and Senator and Dr. Sanders deserve better. Again, we apologize, to you all.

(20,582 posts)I'm waiting next for a backwards video of his to show teh real evil! Be careful, BMUS .... you don't want to get tricked in by no wife-beatin', arm-waving (watch those gestures closely - it's probably some sort of code for misogynist abusers to finally GATHER AS ONE!!) serial abuser.
Just be vewy, vewy careful.

Very dismissive.
I've said again and again that I like both our candidates, but the more I see of him - the more I see a not very nice guy.

(6,498 posts)Had she stood too close to him during his speech, the results could have looked much, much worse.
Then he'd really have some explaining to do!

(2,074 posts)Yes, his tone is a bit brusque, but that is normal in a marriage of old standing. It's like shorthand communication between spouses. I'm pretty sure Bernie just did not want her to get hit in the face when he starts waving his arms around, as he is prone to do.
I'm obviously not a Bernie supporter, but I just don't feel the need to make a mountain out of a molehill.

(19,841 posts)for a rational statement about this.
So he motioned for his wife to move away from his waving hands. If he had accidentally hit her in the face, they would call him a wife beater. She looks like a happy spouse to me, glad to see her out on the campaign trail, obviously an equal partner in the relationship.
Likewise his light brushoff of Hillary when she interrupted what he was saying. What a big deal over nothing. She got her points in, no problem. They both strike a good balance for civil discourse about their widely divergent views, whenever they meet up. It's a lively but polite debate, so different from the RethugliCon brawls. Doesn't help Hillary to be seen as whipped upon by Sanders and needing defense-- makes her look weak--she is perfectly capable of holding her own.

(6,592 posts)(I meant the "good grief" for the post, not Bernie - there's not enough there to know what to think about the link, nor do I know the context of who found and posted the clip, nor why.)

(34,648 posts)But the fact the people are so upset about it being discussed is just making it take longer to stop being discussed.
I think it was just that he seemed impatient. Then came the slams about Bill in response, and so now this. Just wondering why we can discuss Bill, Monica, Hillary's laugh, her clothes, but not Bernie's impatience.
I honestly think it is a response to the deification and the fact the nobody is allowed to say anything about him, EVER, unless it is favorable.

(6,592 posts)Myself, I thought I heard "don't stand there," pretty clearly. It was abrupt, but apparently the context is he was getting ready to start his speech. I don't know what the location or date is, or who found and posted it, or why. I only looked into it because of the uproar that is apparently going on here.
Oho - so first this was posted (you were not the first?) and then a bunch of counter- stuff was posted? Got it.
Gotta go to bed now - night.
