I had one of these "white noise" machines are they are called c. 1990. It was called a Marsona 1200 (how do I remember this shyte?).

Anyway, I lived in a really noised apt. building and good luck getting some sleep! There was none!

So, in came the Marsona 1200. It produces an assortment of sounds to mask what is going on in the background.

It is semi-effective/better than nothing.

Good luck there HRC ...

The ninety-nine percent might get confused when she contradicts what she says in public.

I could recommend H&R Block for simple tax returns..... But maybe they can't hear through the white noise of the crowds.

Just sayin' -- there's more than one way to be transparent.

but the Senator with the lowest net worth has to has to release his piddling tax returns first.

Hillary's claim that she is the first incorruptible person fails in the most basic way....an incorruptible person doesn't take the money in the first place.

to use a white noise machine. I never heard about anyone else using one to prevent the Press - or anyone else - for that matter from hearing a speech. Is this a common use for such a device? Or did the campaign come up with this idea on their own?
It sounds devious and it makes one wonder why a campaign would go to such lengths to protect their candidate? And then one wonders - what is she saying at a fundraiser that needs to be hidden from the Press and the American People? To carry this just one step further - then they wonder why it is people say she is untrustworthy?

If she wins the nomination and then the White House - is this going to be her M.O.?

And must be better than much older models...or that explains why they are telling people to turn cell phones off. Yeah, yeah I read that much earlier in the campaign. They are rather common where some secrecy is needed.

The not cynical would be that they got wiff of the reporter being out there (Secret Service would've seen him and reported on him). And a discussion came up as to what they would do when Clinton started speaking since it was outdoors and he'd be able to pick it up and record it. Any audio tech would've been able to say "hey, we can just pump static in his direction, have fun picking up anything."

The cynical position is that they do this at all events whenever Clinton speaks, they have a special setup to do it, and they have special technology to most effectively cancel out what Clinton is saying at any given moment. And the idea for it came out of pure paranoia and secrecy.
